how good could it be for $30
July 1, 2016
I bought this quite inexpensive stepper with very low expectations...how good could it be for $30? It came shipped from China, (no surprise), but it is actually well-built and works GREAT (big surprise)!! Highly recommend, especially for the beginner who doesn't want to invest a lot of money. Smooth operation, takes up little space, easy, minimal installation, lightweight, and yet durable. Oh, and for those of us with balance issues, just put it in a doorway and hold on. Love it!

I use this all the time, especially in winter when weather or darkness keeps me indoors. Sturdy, quiet and easy to store.

Sunny is my Honey.

I am very happy with this stepper. I have a disability in my back and also get recurring DVTs and PEs, so I really need to keep my body from being too sedentary. If this was easy to do right away I would be disappointed in it. The tension is great along with the hand help straps. I need strength and I believe this will help me in my legs and elsewhere as well as getting my balance back. I already fell off backward so I need to watch myself until I gain that sense of balance.I'm seeing a Chiropractor and he knows all I am doing to try to help. I also have dumbells and a Pilates ring which I need to do a review on. But I am very pleased with this purchase. No squeaks. I'll use W-D 40 once a month as it says to. I know as I keep using it my strength will come and I can tighten up the tension. I would recommend this especially for a first-time buyer like me unless you are way high on the fitness scale and looking for a more intense workout. But this has good tension for the legs to get a workout and cardio too.June 1, 2017Addendum I have found that my sense of balance needs help. I have fallen backward about 4 times with this stepper. So if you have balance problems I would definitely go with the handle bars. I have even bought some piping to use to hold onto but not being stationary it does not do the job right. I know it seems like a waist but I am going to invest in the one with handlebars. I'm so afraid I am going to break my neck yet I do need this type exercise.
I lost About 80 lbs Within 6 Months.
December 6, 2016
I can't help but give this a 5 star rating.I started off at 260lbs at the age of 19 when I acquired my first. I was unaware of the weight limit, so I ordered a replacement after snapping the plastic portion. Following which, I kept a steady pace, and somewhat cut back on my meals. I replaced my occasional soda with coffee, and ate a bit less when it came to sweets. Nothing much changed there, but my metabolism kicked in after this process initiated. From the month of October to April of the following year, I dropped several trouser sizes, along with going from XXL shirts to M.My routine consisted of performing about 2,000 steps a day every other day. Sometimes it was skipped, but it only required an hour or so each time. There's nothing like kicking on fast pace music and jogging to this. This is my third purchase of the machine due to me flying to a different state about a month ago.It becomes squeaky over time, but WD-40 fixed said issue.
Great piece of exercise equipment that doesn't take up much room, and doesn't cost a fortune.
September 2, 2016
I've been looking into some home exercise equipment but I didn't want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars. I researched for a while and came across this, figuring it would give an even better workout than a treadmill at a fraction of the cost. I've been using it for a few weeks now and have been very satisfied. It takes a few minutes to "warm up," but once it gets going (and with a few sprays of some WD40), it moves very smoothly and gives a great work out. I was actually surprised at how quickly I worked up a sweat on this. You can feel it working your legs and thighs, and the resistance bands are a nice touch. I've been very happy with this purchase. It doesn't take up much room, is easily moveable and it didn't break the bank.
GREAT WORKOUT
April 24, 2016
I love this. I'm trying to get back into shape now that it's finally warming up. I want to lose maybe 10-15 lbs, tone up...basically get ready for summer. And this piece of equipment is great way to get a workout in small spaces. It's heavier than I thought it would be, which is a good thing because that means it's sturdy and won't fall apart when I'm on it :). My only complaint is that the workout bands that are attached that you hold onto aren't adjustable. They're a little too long for my liking. There's probably a way to fix that, but I haven't figured it out yet. I actually think that NOT using the bands gives you a better workout; you have to move your arms more and keep your core tight. It gives you a "I'm taking a nature hike up a mountain" feeling haha. However, the tension of the steps IS adjustable, so you can make the resistance as loose or tight as you want. I recommend these steps for most people who want a good cardio workout at home without spending a ton of money.**This is NOT for people who are even a little unstable on their feet. Seriously, you WILL FALL OFF if you don't have it pushed up against the wall or have something to hold onto other than the exercise bands**.Otherwise it works great :)
Exactly what we needed.
July 31, 2015
I have a son with severe ADHD. At 5, trying to expend the level of energy he has without a backyard is very difficult, especially when you have a small apartment. His trampoline just couldn't take all the action (plus a kid can only jump for so long before he gets bored). I decided to pick up some more exercise equipment with a small footprint (our indoor trampoline and gazelle machines were already formidable in the living room.) We got this, a twisting board and a pedaler. The pedaler and this seem to be his new favorites. Ours has the resistance bands as well which he uses to get his whole body moving. It is probably the best of all the equipment at quickly and quietly expending his energy because it seems to require the most effort. Personally, with the exception of a set of resistance bands and a good training program, I doubt there is anything better in this price range that can give a full body aerobic workout with resistance. I use it as well to create a HIIT aerobic workout alternating between strength training with resistance bands, this and simple aerobic moves (marching in place, jumping jacks, etc.). My legs definately feel stronger than using the pedaler. I even have my son with autism who has cordination and balance issues use it. It helps him as well (although getting him to stay on a full 5 minutes is difficult).Common concerns...Weight limit... I weigh 250 pounds and have been using it without any issues. Previously I had the the version with handles and also saw no problems.Time limit... The actual machine did not show the time limit indicated in the description, however, I have used it for up to 20 minutes straight without issue. Usually, as I mentioned, I do circuits so this time limit has never been an issue for me. I do jump on and off a lot within 45 minutes though and have no problems.Step stride. I'm 6'1" and the stride has never been uncomfortable for me. I think because you step and twist it just isn't a factor.
A wicked little machine
October 10, 2014
It comes basically pre-assembled, all you have to do is put the cable around the pulley, screw in a knob and put the batteries in the monitor (no tools required). Then you're ready to get on and start exercising. After using it for about a week, I'm amazed at the work out you get from such a low priced machine. It doesn't have handles to steady yourself, so it's not a good choice for people with balance problems. That being said, because you have to balance it works your core. The twisting motion works your mid section and the elliptical motion works the lower body. I have a knee injury and can use it without pain. Resistance is adjusted by the knob in the front. I don't know how it will hold up over time, but for $50 you could buy one a year and still be ahead of the the higher priced larger machines.

Good for a quick workout!
August 1, 2016
Owned and used for about a month... and I love it! It's a good little workout in a little package. When you use the arm resistance bands, it really ups your workout! I like how you can easily tighten or loosen the resistance of the stepper to adjust your workout. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of digital tracker that comes with it... mine never worked properly. It would start timing/tracking your workout, but then stop a few seconds in. Not a big loss for me, I know those calories-burned trackers aren't really accurate anyway and rarely go by them. All in all, good product!
Solid stepper, if you dont mind a little squeaking.
May 28, 2016
Good stepper for the price - operates very smoothly. Easy assembly, and easy to move around as needed.Like many others, mine started squeaking after several months of use (~20 minutes a day, 5x a week). A little annoying. I will start trying various oils/lubricants to see if I can make it stop. Despite this, it's still hard to beat for the price.
great stepper for under the office desk
May 13, 2016
initial thoughts... ill come back and update later if anything changes.dont think this is a full blown stair stepper. its not. the range of motion isnt a great deal. however, to me, it does a great job for my intended purposes. i bought it to stick under the deck at work so every hour or so i could hop on it for 5 min just to get my body moving and heart rate up.on the product, do you see the first set of screws from the front on the foot pads? i figured out if i move my toes to that spot and have my feet hanging off the back a bit i get much better results versus feet completely inside the foot pads. i can feel my calves and thigh getting warm, and i can tell im getting a good mild workout.construction seems on par for the price point. it seems its built pretty well.overall its great for the price point and my intended purpose.
It's a butt kicker so far;
January 28, 2016
It hasn't killed me. YetDay 2 the pretend computer died. Well, didn't die. It still displays but it doesn't actually count anything, doesn't keep track of the time, doesn't scroll through the modes. Just sits there w 2 steps and a minute or so of time.Resetting doesn't do anything, removing the battery, nope.I didn't buy it for the what ever on earth you want to call it. Good thing too.It really is a nice little stepper and I'm truly impressed by anyone doing more than 15 minutes on it. I don't think I have the tension set to far and maybe I'm way more out of shape than I realized. I really feel it right above my knees and it does a good job of getting my heart rate up.If it twists you can't convince me. The instruction manual has nothing about it. Unless they consider the way the foot pedals are set slightly off kilter (which does make it feel much more natural and comfortable. I can't see where there's a bit of twist to it.
Good workout! Recommend this little guy.
January 7, 2015
I unpacked this today and used it for the first time. I used it for almost half an hour wearing my heart rate monitor. My average heart rate was around 170, and I burned well over 300 calories. I am a young adult female with a normal BMI.I like using this thing! It's quiet - I watched an episode of Friends on Netflix while I used it. At first I thought 'I must not be doing this right,' because it felt like I was simply shifting my body weight. I was like, 'no way is shifting my weight going to get me sweating.' Soon, I got the hang of it and felt my hip flexors and upper legs and buns working. This little machine does get warm. But my boyfriend pointed out that his stationary bike gets so hot when he uses it for 45 minutes that he can't touch it, and that's pretty normal. I won't give it five stars until I use it longer term and determine how effective it is (whether I lose some weight, whether my muscles become sore, etc.), but so far I'm happy!
Great Portable Workout, but limit to 10-15 mins???
September 21, 2012
I just received the twist stepper today, and I thought Id write a quick review on my first impression.Pros:-Looks Fairly well made and Sturdy-The arm straps are adjustable, and they give excellent resistance-The stepping resistance is adjustable and gives a really good workout-The computer turns on and off automaticallyCons:-The step feels like baby steps. Not horrible, but worth noting-The instructions say to limit workouts to 10-15 mins??? WTH?Im assuming thats to prevent a heat build up from friction, but 15 mins?It seems like a good buy and will do exactly what I want it to do. I want to workout every day with enough resistance to maintain my body weight. Its portable enough that I can use it in any room, so chances are I will end up using it very regularly. Thanks for reading!**UPDATE**I emailed sunny health and fitness about the 15 minute time limit on work outs. They told me that the people who wrote the instructions took some creative license with this stipulation, and that the machine can handle an hour workout or whatever. That made me feel better about my purchase. Thanks!

Fun and Easy to Use, But Stick to That 15 Minute Advice...
June 23, 2017
I love this little stepper as far as ease of use goes, portability and honestly I got a great workout from it. If you stick to the 15 minute rule, you'll be fine, but I'd totally zone out well into two hours on a good day......and I had a lot of good days on this stepper.I was rehabbing my knee from a running injury and it was ideal, but the amount of exercise I put on any of my equipment is considerable and the other night one of the bolts was cleanly cut through and the machine literally blew apart mid-stride as I was winding up my workout. That bolt held the right side of the pulley cable and without a secure cable you've pretty much got a useless little stand of plastic and metal.Totally on me, as I said earlier, I average a good couple of hours of exercise daily without fail. But a word to the wise, the machine does get very hot and if you overdo it, it's possible to break this thing.I'm trying to figure out how to loosen the bolt because I figure I can just buy a replacement bolt and get it back in the game but the screw is wedged pretty solid and there's not really a lot room to work with using a wrench, so I'll have to give that some thought.I'm shopping around for another climber stepper that might be a little more rugged. It's only been a day but I miss that part of my morning routine already. The exercise bike isn't nearly as much fun.So again, if you buy it, don't go all beast mode on it, maybe (if you must break that rule) keep under an hour......way under.
Lost resistance in a few minutes.
March 4, 2017
Every time after a few minutes of using, its resistance reduces significantly no matter how I try to tight the knob to increase the resistance. My legs can't really get much exercise. I often lost interest in stepping on it within a few minutes. I rarely return product so I keep it. After that I bought a DeskCycle which actually works and has helped me to lose weight (>15lbs). Occasionally I still step on the twister stepper just to get some alternation in exercise for a few minutes.
Does this workout only your calfs?
May 20, 2016
Hi, I recently received this and I have used it only a few times. Each time, I have used it for approximately 45- 55 minutes and the machine is working perfectly fine. However, since the steps are so small compared to a real stepper in the gym, I feel like I am only working out my calfs, instead of working out most of my legs. Has anyone else had this same issue? Does it actually really workout your thighs and buttocks like it says it does? Or does it workout mostly your lower leg and calfs? Every time I use it, I feel it working just on my calfs and the following day I feel only my calfs burning or slightly hurting from the workout, but no other area of my body. Any tips or additional info from anyone that has been using this for longer would be great! Thanks 😊
Was not new as paid for
February 14, 2015
Item was purchased as a new item, but had clearly been used. The box was beaten up and had big holes in it, and had two other people's addresses on it. The box also had tons of tape on it . It had been opened and re-sealed a couple of times. The item is also scratched. There were no assembly instructions inside but all the parts were there. So I went online and found assembly instructions. So now it works, and I have been using it. So far so good on that. It is small & I can pick it up & move it around easily. I would think I am owed some sort of compensation since I selected and paid for a new item, but got an obviously used one.
It's ok for what it is
January 28, 2015
I like this product, I don't love it. I live in a small town with no gym, and I have neither the budget nor the room for better equipment. I got this to use on days the weather isn't amenable to outdoor activities. I'm 5'5" and not in the best shape. This product's movements feel natural and it does get me to my target HR. I can feel my muscles working. It's not comparable to a $400 piece of equipment but for now, it is fine. I like having the resistance bands as an option to involve my upper body as well.
Goodbye stepper...
December 1, 2013
Just not the machine for me.It's okay, if you don't mind the definite -short- like, SHORT little steps. It's kind of uncomfortable for both of us (102lb, 4'11 female, 165lb, 6'1 male) so maybe it would so better with average height people or people used to working out in a fixed placed?I've given it multiple tries since we bought it in January; the pedals are much too large for me (7 US, female) and my foot just kinda slides on them no matter what shoe I'm wearing. We even tried putting a traction strip on each side but I just can't get more than a 10 minute session done without my ankles hurting from trying to stay balanced, definitely not what I'd like to burn on a work out... The hubs is better at staying put, but then the steps are so short for him, it's a little painful to watch. So we're moving on to a traditional elliptical for when the weather is too sad to bike and giving up on this little guy.Probably good, if you want your thighs strengthened, not really my thing though.

I find it too wobbly , it's hard on your ankles trying to balance as it wiggles beneath your feet . If you have any type of ankle issues don't buy this.

Probably a quality control problem
August 24, 2017
My sister raved about hers, but mine is very "tight". It is really hard to move the pedals. We adjusted it to be as loose as possible, but its all I can do to get the pedals to move (weight 131 pounds). My sister is a little heavier, I don't think though that it is the only difference. I am guessing it is variable Chinese quality control. My sister says she can step at a fast rate, I can only go slowly and with a lot of effort. It exercises the front of my thighs. I wanted something to leisurely use while watching TV etc, but this is so tight that I (who can jog 1-2 miles) can only do a few minutes. My sister who can't jog can use if for half hour plus.
Super stiff mechanism.
May 3, 2016
To be honest, not sure I can leave an honest review. I was excited to get this equipment because I've been stuck inside with all this snow. Howeve,r after I got it put together, tried to use it .... I was unable to use it for longer than a few minutes. The tension was completely off but I was still unable to move the stepper at a rate fast enough to feel that I was exercising. It wore me out but only because it took so much effort to get the foot pieces to move. I tried to oil it, still really stiff. Ive tried it three times and have lost interest in it. Weather is nice now. I'll just walk outside.
Meh... I didn't care for it.
October 4, 2015
I was unimpressed with this machine. I was hoping for a replacement for an elliptical while I was home with my son and couldn't go to the gym. I knew it wouldn't be exactly the same, but I was excited to receive it. For starters, I never felt completely secure on it. I felt " too high" with nothing to steady myself with other than the bands. Also, I did not get the calorie burn I was hoping for...it just didn't work for me.
I'm training for a triathlon, and thought I could ...
September 9, 2015
I'm training for a triathlon, and thought I could use this on days I can't run or bike. I had to send this back, unfortunately. The stepping action does require your knees to twist a bit, as it is not a straight up and down stepping motion. You step at an awkward angle, which aggravated my knee and started to cause pain. Then I had to pay $15.00 to ship it back, so it was kind of a bummer.
machine squeeks!
January 27, 2015
The delivery of the item was on time. It's been a week since I have started using this machine and it has already started squeaking. This machine is for someone who would want to spend about 15 mins exercising but not for someone who would want to quit the gym once this machine is bought.. not satisfied with my purchase.
My Stepper went bad and then just kept getting worse.
April 3, 2014
I was excited about the low price, overall good reviews, and the idea of a nice workout that is low impact. At first this seemed really ideal for my needs but it didn't live up to expectations and is now fully broken. For a few weeks it worked well and provided a decent workout when coupled with other exercise. Then it started to squeak slightly. That squeak became so loud during a 10+ minute workout I had to stop before I wanted to. In addition, snapping and odd noises came from the pedals while settling on it at first. I then reduced my workouts on it to 5-6 minutes which would allow a decent number of steps before the squeak developed. It was OK when used in this manner but I eventually excluded it from my workout. Then, 6 months later, I put it back in my rotation. After a month of use though, one of the bolts that holds the pulley line pulled from one of the sides. The bolt is welded on one side and there will be no way for me to fix it.I'm disappointed and confused as to why my Stepper went so poorly. I'll be looking elsewhere for a replacement at this point.

A waste of money, air cylinders give out after 5 minutes.
September 20, 2016
What a piece of crap. It lasted 1 week before the air cylinders started failing. When you read reviews stating the the cylinders will overheat after 15 minutes of use this is an over exaggeration, these cylinders last about 5 minutes and then they get too hot and expand and start making terrible noises and become so loose that they provide no resistance. You'd be served just as well walking in place. I should've known better than to trust the reviews of this thing, it is poorly made, horribly designed and is nothing more than a large paperweight.Do not waste you money on this scam piece of metal.
just like the other pictures listed with reviews
July 23, 2016
Its been 1 year and 1 month since I bought this elliptical. It finally broke. The elliptical cracked right where the metal was welded together, just like the other pictures listed with reviews. Ironically, in the EXACT same spot as the other ones too. Sad, I would like to say it was fun while it lasted but this thing was noisy.
Not for someone who really wants a workout...
June 18, 2016
This will not give you a workout if you are already in any kind of shape -- it took my whole body weight to get the steps to move, and even at the fastest setting it was slow as molasses. The step height is minimal, and the arm bands are about useless. You're better off stepping on and off a stable platform where at least you can speed things up a bit. I was incredibly disappointed with this...
VERY disappointing.
December 7, 2015
Was virtually unusable out of the box - pressure / resistance was incredibly high and we were unable to reduce it enough to make the stepper run smoothly. After about a month, all of the tension went out of it and we couldn't get any back. Now it just holds a pile of clothing in the corner of my room. What a friggin bummer.
Product did not last
October 9, 2015
If your someone who has a consistent everyday exercise routine, don't waste your money on this. Not long after purchasing, you use the product and within 5 minutes of use, you start to lose resistance/tension. Did not last long.
Squeaks!!!
June 7, 2014
It started squeaking the first week I got it. I tried everything -- several kinds of lubricant, loosening and tightening the tension knob, standing on different parts of the peddle, stepping using different body positions. Nothing worked. The squeak was so annoying that I could only "take it" for about two minutes. It's been sitting in the corner gathering dust for the past nine months. If it didn't squeak, it would be awesome and if I knew FOR SURE that it wouldn't start squeaking again, I would even buy another one, but who can make that kind of guarantee?
