Crisp, Full range, and solid built speakers.
September 11, 2017
I purchase these speaker for a quad set up. I can say that they perform excellent. The sound quality is very crisp. I use them with a AudioSource AMP100VS which is hooked up to a Bluetooth adapter. What I like about the units is the price and size of the units. They are the size of a medium watermelon and come with all of the needed supplies to hook up. The bass is solid and the highs are crisp overall is a warm sound. I would recommend placing them 10ft apart, as they provide the mos uniform sound that way.
I like to consider myself and Audiophile
May 28, 2017
I like to consider myself and Audiophile, and I have to say these speakers are fantastic, great base, midrange and tweeter.I put these on my deck, hooked them up to a Yamaha, 100 watt receiver and Kapow!!These puppies are strong and loud.Do yourself a favor, if you are looking for great out door weatherproof speaker's,get these.
Cant go wrong
December 31, 2016
I love these speakers. I admit that I am no audiophile but these are outdoor speakers and highly serviceable at that. I've had these for about two years mounted in my backyard. They are mounted under the eaves of my covered patio which gives the perfect balance of volume on the patio and in the yard (which is big,1/3 acre lot). The speakers fill the space very well and could honestly do about 1 acre pretty well. In the farthest corner of my lot they can easily be too loud if you turn the volume up. But they are great for the 4th and new years (which I just finished celebrating) when you want to make your backyard a dance party. I drive them as a zone b on my onkyo home receiver. Very good bass for outdoor speakers and great clarity too. At the end of the day, you can't go wrong with these. My grilles did fall off as others have mentioned but nothing that a bead of super glue couldn't fix.
Very Happy
August 10, 2015
I am absolutely ecstatic with these speakers. Our home had some old wiring out to the deck that I tested and still works. I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile even though most of my equipment is lower-end. I have a bottom-of-the-line 5.1 Sony receiver that is about 5 years old. Speaker output B is rated at 100 watts per channel. I was unable to find if this was RMS or peak via the manual's specs as well as specs from Crutchfield, etc.. I assumed it is RMS. That's why I went with these rather than NS-AW150. When I fired them up for the first time I almost cried. As a new homeowner, and never living in a house, I've never had my own music selections playing outside on anything other than my phone or travel bluetooth speakers. The next day we had a BBQ and I prepared a very eclectic playlist with everything from jazz to rock to rap. All music sounded great. The source was my Android tablet running PowerAmp Pro using the direct analog in on the receiver with various filetypes and bitrates. I played a bit with highs and lows but it wasn't really necessary. Don't expect crazy booming bass or super rich sound. It was loud and clear and that's exactly what I wanted. I doubt there is anything else in this price range that sound as good. I am thinking about purchasing some type of cover for them. I think a backpack rain fly might just do the trick. We tested it out with one that was a little too large. Be aware of the size as they are a little bigger than I assumed without looking at the specs.

I got the pair for about $90 and I think they sound great. It took a little work to get them to fit on the speaker stands that were already mounted in our house (I think the last owner must have had some tiny Bose or something). They do come with their own mounting hardware though, if you aren't lazy like me, you can go that route. I use them inside, but I have seen them used in a lot of outside bars around here, so I think they are pretty hardy outside. A couple of notes:I was a little shocked at the size of these. I know the dimensions are listed, so pay attention to that, because there is no way to tell the size from the pictures. They're maybe the size of a large shoebox, but also pretty deep. For their size, they are pretty light, though. These are meant to be mounted. You can use the included hardware as a stand, but I think they would be awkward and bulky as bookshelf speakers. They have the screw down wire connections, not the pinchy types. You might want to give yourself a little extra wire to work with. I made a little test length of wire to measure our a good size while on the table instead of awkwardly positioned on a crappy step stool.
OMG Outdoor Speakers
March 25, 2014
Simply put, these speakers are amazing. I wanted new outdoor speakers for my 30x18 patio and BBQ station area (last summer scrapped my gas grill for a kettle charcoal grill and love grilling outdoors more than ever). I was replacing a pair of workhorse Infinity Outrigger Jr. speakers that served me well for 18 years, and still sound as good as the day I first installed them. But I wanted something with more detail at low volumes, and more bass punch, which could also handle larger wattage when the situation demands it. The search was on.An old JVC 5.1 receiver (120 watts RMS) in the basement powers a set of JBL speakers in the basement, and my outdoor speakers on the patio (A/B outputs on receiver). I love keeping old equipment in use if it performs well. We can rock out to my old LP records in the basement or the patio. I also have an old laptop (Windows Vista circa '2005) I use as my digital music workstation. It has all my mp3 files and streams Internet radio with ease. It's the perfect use for a laptop that can't do most other laptop activities in today's world. If you have an old laptop collecting dust, make it a media player for an old stereo/home theater system and you'll be shocked how nice it works.I compared Yamaha, Polk, Pyle, Klipsch, Insignia, Boston Acoustic, and Bose. The clear winner, when price is factored in, was the Yamaha NS-AW350.The Bose 151 Environmental sound was good, and it may be the favorite of people who like their signature sound. Certainly a classic outdoor speaker.Klipsch was very good, but also very pricey, at several times the price of the Yamahas, with comparable sound quality. The Boston Acoustics speakers sounded nice, while lacking some bass, but the compact cube would be useful for hiding them away in corners. The Yamaha, though, is as good or better, at half the price of the Boston Acoustics, with superior sound quality.I would stay away from Pyle, unless price is your ultimate consideration. They definitely sounded OK for the money. Not sure how the build quality is, though. The Insignias were nothing special, either, and well behind the Yamahas for about equal cost. The smaller Yamaha NS-AW150 was quite decent for a little brother version, but for an extra twenty bucks, you get so much more depth of sound with the NS-AW350. I would not hesitate to buy the NS-AW150 if a smaller speaker is required for an outdoor space. The NS-AW350 is on the larger side (which also greatly helps the bass response). There's no hiding these speakers. Fortunately, I have no desire to hide these wonderful speakers. They sound excellent at low volume, when chilling to NPR or relaxing music, but they really shine when pushed. The treble is crisp, but not grating. The midrange is well balanced. The bass response defies logic. The volume these can put out will quickly bring the authorities, or at least an angry neighbor. These speakers can easily drown out a gathering of 50+ people. For versatility and cost, these speakers cannot be beat. Yamaha should double the price, and they would still be the best speakers going at their price point. The only negative is the mounting brackets. They do not allow much movement, and only support one plane of movement. My old Infinity's allow me to install the mounts for tall or wide aspects, and tilt a good amount, so you can direct the sound where you need it. The Yamaha brackets provide only a small amount of tilt movement. I may fabricate an angled device to provide more slant for the speakers when mounted. Hardly a negative that would put me off these speakers.

Very nice

Sounds pretty good. But if you want bass, you'll want to buy a subwoofer to add on.They don't have much bass. But overall, they are perfect for the garage while doing projects. I would buy again.
Awesome speakers
January 12, 2017
Not a whole lot of bass but these things crank! You gotta run some watts thru them but they can handle it! They are more like a PA speaker but still sound real good when playing music. I live out in the country and mounted one set of these on the back of my barn. I can still hear them perfectly a 1/2 mile away! I liked them so much I got another pair for the inside of my barn.
I am not an audiophile however I enjoy listening music
December 27, 2016
I am not an audiophile however I enjoy listening music. Own systems from different vendors (Klipsh, Yamaha, Polk, Emotiva, NAD,etc.) so I have accumulated some background on audio... These speakers for my outdoor area are more than approved. Easy to install. I am pushing them with an old Yamaha RV-795a and the sound they produce is amazing. No regrets. Their prices against their performance make them a bargain.
Great Sound!
September 21, 2016
These sound really good on my porch. I have them hooked up to a Sonos Connect that sits in the house so I can play anything via my phone/computer/tablet. NICE!!
Great Sound! Plenty Loud Enough (maybe too loud according to the neighbors!)
August 27, 2016
These speakers have a great sound. I am something of an audiophile and am very pleased with the sound these produce. I have them installed on the back of my garage near the fire pit and they are plenty loud enough and do exactly what I wanted them to. Easy to install, look good, and after several months seems to be a product built to last. I have not decided if I will take them down for the winter or not yet. If I leave them up I will update this review in the spring as to there durability in the New England Winter.
Simply astonishing.
May 25, 2012
I consider myself a audiophile, and was looking for a boat stereo system on a budget. I originally orderd Yamaha NS-AW350 2-Way Indoor/Outdoor Speakers (Pair, Black)and was dissapointed by nearly everything about the speaker. The sound from my 10 year old Sony boom box was better, and they had no bass. After returning thouse and paying $13 in shipping (their also huge for no reason). I reserched Bose outdoor products. After finding several on the internet for around the same price, I realised a 3 inch single woofer wouldent be enough, so I took a risk and ordered the KICKER's. Best risk I've ever taken on amazon, the sound and design rivals $400 klipsch outdoor speakers, but the KICKERS have MORE BASS!@#!# The whole speaker looks remarkinly identical to the klipsch speakers, including klipschs invention "the horn tweeter". You would be insane to buy any other outdoor speaker besdies these.I use the speakers with a 20 watt per channel lepai tri-amp, and it allows them to produce a yard filling sound with extreme efficency off our marine battery. If your going to run these indoors I recommend something over 40 watts per channel to drive them, if you want to crank them up'USE YOUR EQ and TONE ADJUSTMENTS.

Happy with these!

Working great so far. They have a really good sound and husband is pleased with these. Haven't used them outside yet but I'm sure he will hook these up on the porch this summer. Great price also!
Good Speaker, but bracket?
August 12, 2016
I shopped speakers for months and decided on the Yamaha. Great speaker, good sound, so why 4 stars instead of 5? The speakers themselves are pretty large (bulky) - not a big deal. The only issue is the bracket. Unless you buy an adapter, which I had no idea I needed, you cant swivel the speakers from side to side very much. If someone can tell me what I need to accomplish this, I would change my rating to a 5.
Best outdoor speaker in it's class!!!!!!
March 23, 2015
UPDATE 07/2016 - Still solid after a full year. The grille kept falling off of one of them, I guess from the vibration of closing the door. I added some strong mounting tape to solve the problem. I still love the way they sound!!!!!!First let me start by saying that you will NOT find a better sounding speaker for the price of these Yamaha 350Ws. I don't like the 5-star method of reviewing products unless it is in a specific category, so the only fair way to review products is based on what they are and not the price they cost. With that said, I had these speakers set up in my listening area and compared them to my current indoor setup. The speakers were connected to my 10 year old Marantz SR-8100 and I played a wide variety of music. These speakers actually sounded almost as good as my Wharfedale Diamond towers. The highs are crisp, the mids are clear, the lows are good and the vocals come across almost lifelike. These sound like decent indoor speakers. They obviously can't compete with higher end speakers and the bass isn't all that powerful, but I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoy listening to these speakers. The reason I did not give this wonderful speaker a five star rating is twofold. First is the fact that they are not the best sounding outdoor speakers I have heard, and second is due to the fastening of the grille. These speakers, when mounted slightly downwards have a tendency to lose their grilles.Another speaker that I compared these to is the OSD AP670. In a side by side comparison to the similarly priced AP670, it was no comparison. While the OSD had better bass performance, the sound from the Yamaha was much more balanced and full. The OSD sounded like a boombox from the 80's next to the Yamaha. In conclusion, If you enjoy listening to music outdoors and you want to hear the full musical spectrum down to about 60hz, this is a winning speaker. If you are want a lot of deep bass, I would recommend a subwoofer or spending a lot more money on outdoor speakers. I love my Yamaha 350W speakers and they are well worth the price.
Great for my patio
April 23, 2014
I've been putting a lot of focus on making a nice living area on my patio this spring, and these speakers were kind of the final touch and icing on the cake. I wanted to be able to sit outside and have some nice background music, or to be able to entertain guests for a BBQ or something similar, and for that these speakers are great. They're hooked up the the zone 2 terminals on my Yamaha AV receiver so I can control them with my phone outside, which makes them very useful. I hooked them up inside when I received them (before I had a chance to properly install them outside) and cranked them up a bit, and they do get quite loud, surely loud enough for just about anything you'd need them for. I probably won't ever have them overly loud outside as I don't want all my neighbors to hate me.They do not have overly strong bass, but that's to be expected for a sound set up without a subwoofer, in my opinion. The sound is clear and full range, so I'm happy with them. I'm also pretty picky about sound, so the average person might not think they're lacking in the lower end.The speakers are also very light weight (under 7 lbs a speaker) which makes installing them easy. The adjustment potential of the bracket is limited, so if you want something more than basically flat against the wall (they do tilt up and down a little bit), you might want to get some additional mounting hardware. For my needs, brackets are just attached to the wooden pergola over my patio with wood screws.Anyway, great speakers, especially for the price. I've spent much more time outside over the past few days because of them.
I love these!
January 26, 2014
I wanted to add music outside so that I wouldn't have to crank the stereo up inside and keep the patio door open when my wife and I wanted to sit out side in the evening. I looked at some wireless options but the reviews were marginal at best and many times the signal from these wireless options conflicted with wireless internet. So I resolved my self to installing regular speakers outside. I entertained the thought of having someone install speakers...OUCH! So I decided to do it my self. After alot of research and reading opinions about speakers under $150 I decided on getting the Yamaha NS-AW350's, which many opinions said they were as good as Bose speakers. I have a Bose 321 and some other Bose computer speakers so I thought, 'what the heck, if I don't like them I'll return them'.After receiving them I plugged them into my Pioneer stereo (circa 1985) and they sounded decent so I committed to installing the speakers from the patio, through the attic (which was back breaking), down the wall, and to my stereo. I plugged the wire into the stereo and wow. Before the neighbors didn't like me...now they hate me :) I reckon they would like me if Led Zeppelin played cumbia's...ODELAY!! ;)BTW, if you plan to run speaker wire through your attic be sure to get a spool of Monoprice 100ft 14AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor Loud Speaker Cable. which is double insulated and meets fire safety regulations.
It Deserves 4.5 Stars
October 19, 2013
I've been an audiophile for over 35 years. I know a lot about amplifiers, speakers and acoustics. I've got 3 stereos at home, all 3 have subwoofers. So, when I bought these speakers and after reading the reviews, I knew what I was getting. Even though the specs say 55hz to 40,000hz, within 3 decibels, these speakers are not getting down to 55 hz. Two of my subwoofers on my other systems get down to 25hz and one gets down to about 50hz. These speakers don't even come close to 50hz. I spent the better part of 5 hours, sitting on the deck and going through my music list and these speakers probably get down comfortably to about 80hz, which is mid-bass.Having said that, the speakers sound great for highs and mid-range. I've got them sitting on my deck, powered by an Audiosource power amplifier rated at 50W RMS continuous, per channel into 8 ohms. I had the opportunity to crank them up and they produce plenty of volume in our back yard and loud enough to irritate the neighbors. If you plan on having a lot of back yard parties and you need that boom-boom sound then plan on getting an outdoor subwoofer to go with these or plan on spending more money on larger and better speakers. However, for just a little over 80 bucks, you're not going to find any speakers that sound this good and can live outdoors.Physically, these are large speakers. The dimensions on the specs don't tell the whole story - these are big speakers. My sister bought a pair of Bose outdoor speakers that were not nearly as big for 3 times the cost and that was almost 10 years ago. I had been eyeing a pair of Polk outdoor speakers, a brand I currently own for indoor speakers and brand whose speakers I've owned in the past. However, at 125, I just couldn't justify the cost when the performance was only slightly better although Polk claims that their speakers are made to military standards and can stay outdoors in all kinds of inclement weather. Yamaha doesn't recommend that they stay outdoors in bad weather, but they're going to live outdoors under the plant stands, which provide a modicum of protection. We'll see how durable these Yamaha speakers are over the next few years. If you're not too concerned about missing out on lower bass, then these speakers should fit your needs. If you want that thumping base, be prepared to pay more. Good listening.

While it has not rained since these have been outside, the sound quality is great and I am very content with my purchase.
Fast delivery, Great price
October 15, 2015
Great speakers. They are loud. But the highs override the lows. Other than that they are great speakers. Satisfied with the fast delivery and price of the speakers. Hooked them up today. I just hope they last. We will be using them frequently so we will put them to the test and see how long they last!
Really good speakers that should fill a large deck with sound, but just okay for larger outdoor areas.
August 6, 2015
These work well, but not amazingly well. Keep in mind that I attempted to use these as outdoor entertainment for quite a large area. I installed these in opposing trees, and angled each toward the center of the lawn. Trees are approximately 30 feet apart, lawn is not super large, but I suspect these speakers are designed more for a back deck or other smaller area. They do a good job, but not an amazing job. I actually re-ran speaker wire after first installation because they distorted at high volume and I assumed this was arising from increased resistance from such a long run (approx 100 ft of wire per side), so I decided to use larger gauge wire (I went from 18 to 14 gauge wire). After this there was some improvement but still not what I expected. My second solution was to provide dedicated amplification to the speakers (previously I was running a subwoofer and these from a single set of speaker outs, using the high-level inputs on the sub and the crossed-over outputs from the sub to these speakers). With dedicated amplification, there was further improvement, but again still not what I really had invisioned. Perhaps I expected too much. Now, I must say to all potential buyers, these speakers sound really, really good, and will likely fill a typical backyard deck--where listeners are much closer than the area I tried to fill--very well. My application may require more power, as I am using an Onkyo receiver rated for around 80 watts. For such a large area, I recommend a ridiculous amount of really good, clean power (like 120 or more real watts from a high-current separate amplifier/preamp combo or a really high quality receiver). So, these are really good, but not "make your own outdoor concert, amazingly good." Try them in a more typical setting, like a porch, garage, back deck, etc., and I'm sure you'll like them a lot. In the pics below, you can see the speakers in the trees, and on each side of the outdoor screen you are able to see how far apart the trees are. The screen is about 12 feet tall, so you can get a sense of scale. Also note that although some reviews say not to mount them directly in the open, the first page of the manual says something to the effect "these are designed to be mounted in an open air environment." So I may put a little roof over them, but I think they are fine as they are.

Could be more durable for the money
September 27, 2016
We just finished our fourth year of these but they haven't been sounding their best lately (they were awesome up till this year). I wanted to relocate the indoor amp and Bluetooth adapter closer to the patio and I pulled the speakers down. There was a ton of water inside of them. To Yamaha's credit, they were still working after four years of direct sunlight and Illinois winters. There's no way to take these apart to repair them so I drilled a 1/8" hole in the bottom to let the water drain. They still work OK so I'll leave them up until they're done. If they were a bit more Illinois weather proof I would have rated them a star higher. My next set will probably be Polk or Klipsch.

I purchase these speakers based on the reviews I read that they had very good bass. Being from the Caribbean I listen to a lot of soca and reggae. Also into Jazz and R&B. All music that good bass is needed. My rating on the bass for these speakers is 5 out of 10. I have an 8 year old Sony set and those speakers have double the bass of these Yamahas. I planned 2 purchase 2 sets of these but I think I will have to look for a 2nd set with more bass.

Poorly attached speaker cover
July 23, 2014
I bought these speakers for outdoor use. Within 2 days of mounting on my deck overlooking the pool, one of the screens fell off. I re-attached, but found it back on the ground the next day. Will be buying superglue to try to rectify the situation. I had an old pair of super cheap KLH speakers, that have never had a problem in nearlt 10 years of service. The difference is that the KLH cover snaps on, while the Yamaha just has a very thin adhesive holding the grill in place. The good news...the sound of these speakers is very good! My wife keeps having me turn the volume down as they produce great sound including bass. All in all, if you are looking for an outdoor speaker, look elsewhere, as the durability in outside use is highly suspect. If you have an indoor or enclosed outdoor locale in mind, these speakers should do a commedable job.
Good sound, poor build quality (fixable issue - just need glue)
March 17, 2014
I agree with the reviewers that say these speakers have good sound, but are not as good as very high end speakers. In addition the build quality hasn't improved since 2009 (or even before). I purchased these 10/22/2013 and probably took a couple of weeks to install them. By February 2014 (3-4mos) in cool/cold weather, the grills started coming apart. See my video.
Great Value
April 26, 2012
For $80 a pair, you can't do better.Yes, there are better speakers on the market. Yes, they cost LOTS more. When I'm outside, it's party or work-in-the-yard time, I'm not there for serious listening - and for that purpose, these Yamahas are great. They sound good on all kinds of music, from orchestral to Jazz to Hip-Hop. They can handle plenty of power without distortion - enough to fill the whole block with sound if need be. Good strong bass from the 6.5" woofers plus enough mid-range and treble so you can hear all of the music. Nice mounting hardware is included for a variety of situations, plus a handy little stand if you want to keep them portable. The only thing you'll need is some screws or bolts to attach the hardware to a wall or deck. (Don't cheap out on the hardware, these speakers are heavy)I have a friend who has a pair of B&W WM-6 speakers in his outdoor listening area - and they sound a little bit better. At $275 EACH, they ought to.The Yamahas, on the other hand have a little more bass to them. To my way of thinking, this makes the Yamahas better for "Party" mode.If I lived in a part of the world where the outdoors was quiet, and the weather was great much of the year - I would probably spring for the B&Ws.Since I live in a noisy Urban Midwestern town, the Yamahas make sense for me.UPDATE: After two summers, they still sound great, but there have been problems. 1- As many have reported, the grills came off of mine after some hot weather. A few drops of Gorilla Glue fixed this. 2-When I was taking them down for the winter, I noticed that one of them had water inside! I managed to drain it out and the speaker still sounded good. I put a bead of black caulk around the seams. Hopefully that will fix the problem. I had to knock off two stars because of these issues. If you want good outdoor sound - but are on a budget, or expensive speakers would be a waste, you can't go wrong with these - if you don't mind doing a little extra work.

Outdoor Kickers Loud Clear Mids
July 7, 2015
I was about to purchase Yamaha nsw-350-n and I saw a review saying someone else bought and returned not happy with sound and bought these kickers and said were so happy with purchase. Well, I am here to comment on my thoughts. They came in fast and new. Attractive black cabinets and mounting hardware perfectly strong enough and easily adequate for their job. I purchased them for my back porch patio and pool area. They are driven off Zone 2 on my Denon x1100w receiver that also powers my living rooms 3- Klipsch KL-6504, 2- Klipsch R-5650-S and 1-JBL SW1200 sub and I am not expecting these to even compete with Klipsch horns. And they don't. Not even in the same category. Now, I will say they are loud and crystal clear at high volumes. They have really great clear midrange. They have no high hat symbols and no bass. Zero for each, but mids they have a lot of. And you can hear them 30 feet away crystal clear. I don't have an exterior speaker alternative to compare. I will leave them hookedup. But I have 4 more speakers to put up outside, and I will get another pair from another manufacturer, and comment. I've done a ton of looking and cannot find outdoor 8" woofer with a horn and/or a separate tweeter. These manufacturers need to get with this market. More people are staying home and making their own environment their vacation/entertainment place. Like BIC. I bought all BIC FH8W in walls for my 7.2 pool/foosball table mancave off the pool area. And they are awesome $160/2 vs. for price of Klipsch $1400/2 and sound almost (8 vs 10) as good. I wish BIC made an outdoor version of their FH8W speakers. I would buy all. Some of you may say, just crack open the card and buy outdoor Klipsch? But, they don't make an outdoor KL-6504 or I would, but would have to be way less than $700 each.....!! Anyway my 2-4 cents on this. Hope it was helpful and not a rambling. Need more highs and lows with clarity!

Small Sound from a Small Speaker - But with a reasonable price tag
June 8, 2014
In truth, I'm a bit disappointed with this purchase. Although I didn't have exceedingly high expectations prior to buying these (after all, Kicker isn't known for audiophile-grade sound equipment), the sound produced by these left me wishing for much more.Upon first hooking these up, I was certain I hadn't connected something correctly. The music they produced sounded like it came from a pair of headphones dangling around my neck. Very tinny, too bright, and with basically no bass response. The ONLY way to get any audible bass response out of the Kickers is to EQ the bass all the way up. Even then, a subwoofer is a mandatory addition. That said, for the price paid these speakers aren't terrible. They sound OK if your only need is to provide some background noise that you don't really plan on listening to. Just don't expect great sounding music.
They're ok.

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase considering the amount I paid for these speakers and their performance. They're definitely worth every bit of the ~$90 or so a pair, maybe worth $20-$30 more.I un-boxed these and installed them on my back covered patio. The install was incredibly quick and the bracket engineering made sense. As well, the build quality is very good, especially at the price point. My only critique is the overall sound quality. When you buy a speaker that specs out with a 50Hz bottom end, one has to realize going into it that there will be very little to no bass output. This theory maintains integrity with these speakers. Even using an EQ and crossovers to fine tune the output, and bass output was muddy and cheap. Mid-range frequencies suffered as well, but not terrible. The highs were nice and bright, maybe a little too bright, but I attribute that to not having the entire output balanced. Bright highs tend to stick out when low-end and mid-range are ho-hum. With all of this said, I have only had these running for a week--hardly enough time for a proper break-in period. My hope is that the driver opens up a little and starts delivering on the lower end of the operating spectrum. If they get better over time I will make sure to update this review.Like I said, overall I can't be too picky or disappointed considering the amount of money invested. In no way is this 3 star rating a bad thing. I just feel it's true all things considered. If your looking for a good budget speaker this is a great choice. If you demand only audiophile quality, even from an outdoor speaker, I'd spend the extra coin on the DefTechs at 4 times the price.

They sound good, but they fall apart.
July 20, 2017
Two months into these things and the grills are falling off. Sound quality it good to great range. They look ok, mounting them is decently easy. They were much bigger than I was expecting. I cant give them more than a 2 star rating due to the grills falling off within weeks.

Came in very good condition like they describe! Good bass reproduction. Not much movement in speaker bracket for angling. After two months the woofers were rattling!Ron
SOUND IS AVERAGE AT BEST AND THE COVERS KEEP POPPING OFF
November 7, 2016
PAID A LITTLE EXTRA FOR "YAMAHA" BRAND. SOUND IS AVERAGE AT BEST AND THE COVERS KEEP POPPING OFF. I HAVE HAD 4 OF THE COVERS IN JUST A FEW WEEKS FALL OFF ON THEIR OWN. MINE ARE MOUNTED KIND OF HIGH, SO I HAVE TO KEEP GETTING A LATTER AND PUTTING THEM BACK ON. EXTREMELY ANNOYING, IN RETROSPECT, CONSIDERING HOW BULKY THEY ARE AND THE SOUND ISN'T EXCEPTIONAL, JUST AVERAGE, AND THE COVER POPPING ISSUE, I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THEM HAD I KNOWN THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW.
so not stand behind their products!!!!!

Bought these mounted them on the house, they looked great. It stormed one time and the speaker cover came off. We called Yamaha to have a replacement sent since they are under warranty.....nope only under warranty if purchased thru a authorized dealer. So now I have one speaker with a cover and one with out. Looks really nice. They do not sound to bad.
Grills dont stay on
July 1, 2015
31 days after receiving this item (I know because I am one day past being able to return these) The speaker grills have fallen off both speakers. I live in Southern California, we have had some light rain and temperatures have ranged from 70-80 degrees over the course of the last month; far from extreme weather. It appears as though the speaker grills are held in place by about 6 tiny blobs of black silicone, that simply do not hold. These speakers are both mounted out of direct sunlight, one is even tucked way under the eaves and sees zero sun. The sound quality is good enough for the price, but the build quality is poor.
wow, 10 days and grill covers fall off ???
July 9, 2013
wow, 10 days and grill covers fall off ??? really ? does corporate America just not give a damn about quality anymore ? I'm sure someone at Yamaha will say oh, it's a freak occurrence. They'll say this is not typical of other consumer experience.... Really ? 10 days and grill covers just fall off ? No secure mounting of covers, no screws, no snaps, no hardware secures the cover ? Just glue ? and so very little glue that I can't even tell where it was applied ? The only reason I gave a 2 star rating is because they played music when connected, otherwise due to BOTH grill covers falling off in 10 days it would have been a 1 star rating.

One of the speakers sound distorted, thinking this is possibly an unfortunate glitch that rarely happens as I have always held Kicker brand in high regard for its quality
I like the speakers

Tweeter in one of the enclosures blew and hissed only a few months after initial use. Manufacturing defect...??? Who knows. I like the speakers, but this is not acceptible. I will try to correct through the manufacturer but if that doesn't work, i'm going back to Cerwin Vegas.

Grills blow off.

Bought 2 sets of these for outdoor installation... for each of these, the grill has fallen off and appears to only have been secured by a couple tiny dabs of glue. 2 of the grill's blew away with wind.
Speaker Grills are NOT made for outdoor use
October 7, 2016
Too bad the grills came off within 45 days of installing these speakers. The sound is great but this unit is worthless due to the poor quality of the "all weather" (yea right) make. I looked this problem up in the reviews (after I had the issue) and it is a widespread. They are attached with glue so there is no easy way to reattached the grills. Unless you can figure out a way to attach the speaker grills do not purchase these.

Burned up on 3rd use.
July 23, 2016
I had these speakers connected to a Sony amp capable of 125w per channel so I thought they could handle the power since they were rated at 150 watts, nope. The second time out I had the volume at 60% after about an hour I notice that they started distort badly so I turned down the volume. The last time out the woofer stop working after an hour. Upon opening the speaker I found that a resistor on the woofer crossover circuit board had burned up, see picture. Don't on playing these speakers loud for any length of time.
Snap crackle pop

Speakers crack and make horrible noises at normal volumes. Replaced amp thinking it was going out... Nope Just horrible speakers.
One of the speakers does not work
June 5, 2014
I received this and was having these installed as a part of a remodeling project. Unfortunately, I tossed the packaging and they were installed a month later. One of the speakers does not work and I did not keep the packaging to be able to return this.
