Five Star Reviews: | 78% There are no reviews yet | 75% Plug fixed my lawn tractor right up October 5, 2017 I had never used a plug kit before, had only done bicycle tube repairs. This is much easier. I was apprehensive because my lawn tractor tire was going flat from a puncture from a large piece of steel wire I had run over. Just followed the directions, yanked quickly, trimmed and was good to go. Purchased with hope I never need it! September 4, 2017 appears to be what is in ad. I won't know until I need it. I hope I don't need it! Seriously, I had my front Driver side tire belts go flying the very day this product came in the mail. In this case this product wouldn't have helped that situation. However-reason I bought it. Always be prepared! Must have for those times September 1, 2017 Ordered to use on our lawn tractor tire with a wire and slow leak - very easy and worked great - ordering another to carry in the Jeep for off road travels. This was a great product at a great price point it is one ... August 21, 2017 This was a great product at a great price point it is one of those items that I have in my roadside kit that I hope I won't have to use but after inspection of the tire repair kit it certainly looks like it will get me through an emergency situation Great kit that might save your hide! May 29, 2017 REALLY handy kit to have in the truck / car! I keep mine in a pouch with a small portable mini compressor, both have come in handy and saved my bacon more than once. Great quality tire worms, good glue and nice handles on the tools. Overall for the price it's a fantastic kit and takes up no space at all. I think that this is a great product. It takes a moment to learn how ... March 15, 2017 I think that this is a great product. It takes a moment to learn how to use it. I am not that skilled, yet it worked very well on my Vespa ET4 moped, and our AAA guy used it when we had a flat on our car. |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% There are no reviews yet | 16% like a picture hanging nail September 25, 2017 Worked well and tire not leaking. My only issue was that the nail in my tire was very small, like a picture hanging nail. The whole was not big enough to fit the scouring awl in at all so I drilled a slightly bigger hole. The kit would benefit from having 2 sizes of awls. Plan To Use As A Temporary Fix, Not Have To Install The Spare February 23, 2017 Stored in my truck with my Slime compressor. If I ever have a fast leak flat I'll try and patch it first and not have to go through hassle of getting out the spare and changing the tire. I'd give 5-star if I had already used it successfully. No doubt successful use will depend greatly on operator intelligence. |
Three Star Reviews: | 5% There are no reviews yet | 5% Not as easy as the instructions show July 26, 2016 Able to repair tire but handle didn't come free when pulling on it after plug inserted. The plug came out with it and it was too soft to repeat procedure. Had to use a second plug and just cut it with the handle still attached. Not great April 22, 2014 The tool does the job, but don't expect to have the tool work for more than a couple jobs. the metal is extremely soft and bent on the first plug. |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% There are no reviews yet | 1% This is a fairly simple product and difficult to mess ... September 26, 2016 This is a fairly simple product and difficult to mess it up. Unfortunately they did mess it up. The package included 2 t-handle tire pluggers and 0 t-handle tire reamers. Kind of disappointing. Was not able to fix a simple nail puncture, tools / plugs are too large for small punctures. September 25, 2015 I purchased this as cheap insurance on a long road trip, something that would be handy to have around. Fast forward to about 6 months later and my wife's car keeps losing pressure in one of the tires (we were on a trip at the time). I couldn't find anything so waited until we were home to pull off the wheel and found a nail smack dab in the center of the tread which should have been an easy repair. I thought this would be a good opportunity to try out the patch kit, so I pulled the nail only to find that it was impossible for me to get the reamer into the nail hole. I also tried putting the plug handle into the hole and with my entire body weight behind it I could not get close to getting the plug in.I was disappointed that I was unable to use this kit to patch a nail puncture, one of the most common types of punctures as the tools/plugs were too large. I ended up taking the tire to a shop and paying them $20 to do a proper patch job, and concluded this would be of limited value as a temporary fix on the road. Very poor tip design caused it to grab the plug when ... July 9, 2015 T-handle tire plugger in this kit would not release the plug once it was pushed into the hole.Very poor tip design caused it to grab the plug when you are trying to remove the tool from the tire.I had to grab my old Victor tire plug tool to finish the Job. The reamer, glue, and plug worked fine. Not a temporary solution January 4, 2012 My husband was able to plug my tire with a little bit of effort, struggle, and trial and error. All seemed to work well. However, after plugging it, we left for vacation for a week, and when we returned having not driven it at all, the tire had only 10psi when it was originally left with 40psi. Realizing that the plug did not create an air-tight seal, we took it to a tire repair place that patches tires for free. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, they told me that they cannot patch a tire that has already been plugged since the plug adheres to the tire wall, and they would have to drill a hole bigger than the plug in order to remove it. We took it to another tire center just to confirm, and they told us the same thing that it cannot be patched after being plugged. How does it "enable you to get to a service center safely" if the service center won't be able to remove the plug afterwards? Essentially, I paid for the plug kit to prevent me from being able to properly patch my tire and now have to spend at least $200 to buy a new tire. Fantastic. |
One Star Reviews: | 3% There are no reviews yet | 3% The plugs seep air. September 29, 2017 Don't buy this one. Fixed 3 holes in by daughters gocart. 2 of them leaked THROUGH the plugs..not around the plug. Air is actually seeping out through the plugs. I even replaced one and it did the same thing. I've never seen that before with other products. Now I have to go to Walmart and buy some that I know work, pull these out and replace them. What a hassle. Poor quailty control September 11, 2017 My came with out the plugger tool and 2 reamers. Now I have a tire with a whole that won't hold air instead of one with a nail that had a slow leak and have to wait 3 more days to fix it, Certainly not ordering another one from them Terrible, buy a different brand plugs. December 4, 2016 The plugs themselves dont hold air. It leaks right through the plugs. Someone else said in a review "I believe the sticks are too fibrous and losing air clearly through the fibers." and I agree with them 100%. Terrible, would never recommend, buy a different brand. The concept itself is great as the guy at the gas station around the corner plugs my tires with similar but a little thicker plugs and I never loose air. Just bought this hoping to save money as I drive 1K miles or more per month in the streets of NYC and get flat tires more often than most.If you already have plugs but need the tools to use them this set works ok. Be aware! May 6, 2016 Be aware! On the back of the packaging the description reads: this is only temporary fix until you get to the repair shop. I have used this style plug since 1986 with great results. After running out of my old brand April 10, 2015 I have used this style plug since 1986 with great results. After running out of my old brand, I don't remember the brand but it wasn't slime and was purchased at Wal-Mart, I tried the slime kit. Everything looked and worked just like my old system except after a few weeks they start leaking. From 1986 to 2014 installed around 60-75 plugs with only one failure. Slime plugs, installed 3 with 2 failures.edit.. After looking, I believe the product I used before was made by Victor and they were self-vulcanizing plugs. I ordered Safety Seal because of the reviews and will write a review after I'm sure they work well.9/27/16 edit. I've used the Safety Seal for over a year now and plugged about 16 holes with no failures. |
