Really nice touch to our fire place. I cannot comment on fire protection - we don't light fires in ours, just candles. The former owner of our house did not maintain the fire box and this 'dresses' up an otherwise nice looking fire place. Be very careful to measure the opening width of your fire place before you order. Ours just fits with about an inch or so to spare. The legs are not adjustable and are welded into place. There is no screen behind the design. By this I mean that the design is open, which will not be an issue if your fireplace had those mesh curtain things. If not, this will probably not work for you if you are really using your fireplace. Final note, the green in the design is more of a forest green rather than the bronze green that appeared on my monitor.

I ordered this for a gas fireplace where I do not need a mesh screen. The fireplace opening is rather small and I had a very difficult time finding a suitable size. This decorative screen fits the bill perfectly! The color of the green in the leaves and the silver on the center medallion is subtle and very tasteful. Everything arrived in perfect order and I had no trouble screwing the two bases pieces onto the screen. I have not yet used it in front of a roaring fire and am a bit concerned about the earlier review that said the screen burned up. I will probably move the screen out a bit the first few times I have a fire and see what happens. Fortunately I do not need to keep the screen in front of the fire when it is burning.

LOVE this screen! Bought it late summer, when it was on sale. The scrollwork is beautiful, and the colors compliment my decor perfectly. It's a nice bronzed antique finish with some evergreen color for the leaves. It is not a screen to keep sparks out...just decorative.

I bought this to use as a means of preventing my dog from going down the stairs. Since our living room (where the staircase is) is a formal room I wanted the 'gate' to match my decor. All those cheesy kid and pet gates are an eyesore. So I had a stroke of genius and wondered if a fireplace grille would work. I found this one, which is beautiful and the exact size of my staircase width of 35". It matches the old world formal feel of my living space and in the way it is used looks nothing like a fireplace ornament. I will be honest, the wingnuts were impossible to screw on the bolts, but once my husband used wd40 on them we were able to get them on with the aid of a plier. I'm so proud of myself for figuring out this wonderful home solution. It is not entirely black, the leaves are muted green and there is a silver burst in the center. It's beautiful.

Beautiful fireplace screen. If you don't like the painted accents on the front (I do. They are in very muted colors) TURN IT AROUND! The back is unpainted. Be aware that this only works with gas logs. I removed a battered brass fixture with a mesh screen. This is SO much better. Do people really think that if you use accessories made for a wood burning fireplace that you can fool your friends into believing that those fake logs are real? This screen is really made well. Highly recommended.

I have a mountain stone fireplace that divides the great room from the kitchen. The mantel is held in place by custom-made wrought iron pedestals and the mantel is one piece of solid 4 inch thick by 6 feet long white oak. I wanted something that would make a statement with the mantel and this fireplace screen fit the bill. It isn't too heavy. It was super easy to assemble - two wing nuts. Took me a whole 5 minutes. I have gas logs and you can see them perfectly through this screen. When I use the logs, I intend to move the screen out a bit so my dachshunds can't jump on the hearth and get too close to the flames. I could've spent $300 or more for another screen that wasn't near as pretty as this one. Also, the leaves are a dark, muted forest green. There is a hint of a muted rust and the screen frame is in a dark black/brown. I love it and everyone who has seen it thinks it is perfect.

This set (we also got the matching tools) is gorgeous! I was disappointed that it was just screen and couldn't stop drafts up the chimney when not in use (our floo alone is insufficient), but our son bought and had cut a piece of plexiglass which fits invisibly behind it. It is NOT pewter nor even pewter colored. It's black with some scuff to expose silver colored metal. To me, that part is unimportant as it works beautifully in the room. I'm very pleased.

I love this thing! It's color is mostly black with pewter highlights. Our magnetic closure works great every time. Fits snugly against the front of the fireplace. Wish I had known there was a matching fireplace tool set before I bought a different random one. I would not consider this safe enough in a house of children since it doesn't attach/mount directly to the fireplace.

The advertisement doesn't do this product any justice. It is gorgeous. In the ad image, the grate metal in the back of the larger diamonds are hard to see. In hopes there would be more than just some large diamond holes to keep the embers from flinging out unto the hardwood floors, we ordered it. Not a mistake. The metal is more sturdy than one could imagine from the ad image. This Plow & Hearth Celtic Knot Two-Door Fireplace Hearth Screen fits perfectly up against the opening. I wish there were other sizes available so we could order matching Fireplace Hearth Screens for our other fireplaces. This product came in on time and although the box was damaged, the product itself in perfect condition. Easy to Assemble.

We love this fireplace screen. It sits flat against the stone of the fireplace and the door opening makes it so convenient for cleaning the fireplace or adding wood. (No more reaching over the top like the old one we had or removing it for better access.) We are EXTREMELY pleased!

We couldn't be happier with our new fireplace screen. It is beautiful and so easy to use - simply open the doors to add logs or moves things around, not like the archaic heavy screens that you need to lift to one side. It fits our mantle perfectly and has become a lovely accent to our living room. This was a great purchase, pretty much sight-unseen and we are VERY happy with it. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs or wants a new fireplace screen and doesn't want to spend a fortune. You will get a great product that looks like you spent a lot more than you did.

Just received. Came out of the box with detached "swirl" of metal. Not sure if we did it when sliding out of box but was easy to mend. Yes, the green is dark like a spruce green, and the center piece is silver, this looks great. If you don't like the colors, the metal will hold paint so should be easy to change color. Definitely decorative only as there is no screen but really adds a nice touch to bare hearth without taking up too much room.

I had been searching for a fireplace screen for some time, and this screen met my criteria for size, style and certainly price. I would not recommend it for a wood burning fireplace as it is lightweight and has no screen backing, but was perfect for my gas fireplace. It is not well constructed, as some of the finish flaked off even as I was taking it out of the box. I would have gladly paid more for a product with a better finish, however this was not a deal breaker as I was planning on painting it anyway. All in all, an attractive screen at a good value.

I just needed something to cover the black fireplace hole. It is decorative and the colors are antique-y (they must have fixed the bright color problem). It looks nice but it will not prevent sparks from flying out. It doesn't have a screen for that. I live in South Texas and almost never burn anything but candles in the fireplace so it works great for my needs and my budget.

The screen was as I expected based on other reviews. The green leaves are a much brighter green than they appear in the picture; however, they can fit well if your decor includes green. If not, they can be toned down easily by antiquing or distressing. Well made and solid, and just the right size for my fireplace opening. It's not too big to detract from the stonework surrounding my fireplace.

My husband thought this was perfect for our fireplace, especially the bright green and silver. I expected softer color tones.To achieve the one-tone effect I wanted, I just turned it around to put the footings on. It is more lightweight than I imagined, but that makes it easy to move as needed. Easy assembly.

I made a mistake of not reading all the description of the screen in that one can not use this when burning wood because this is not a screen but oranmentation. Perhaps it should NOT be call a SCREEN as it does not have wire mesh.

Very sturdy and had all the parts (that is always a plus). It fit snugly under the mantel and the doors make it much easier to tend to the fire.

For the price it should be a better quality

I really like the look and fit of this screen. My husband was somewhat apprehensive about the color. The screen is mostly black with silver streaks...somewhat similar to a distressed look. Basically appears to be a black paint job with certain areas where the paint has been scraped off to reveal the silver metal underneath. There aren't many of these areas, mostly at the edges.I like the screen and it compliments the grey tones in our den. No fire yet as it's been much too warm in Savannah, GA, to have need a fire.

Looks very good and functions well. Doors stay closed. Only problem was one of the threaded bolt holes was stripped. It's for attaching one of the L-shaped brackets on the inside or back side. As a result, the bracket is loose and provides no support. It doesn't seem to affect the way it works but it's annoying to have a defective product. This defect should have been detected because the bolt was installed in the stripped out hole prior to shipping.

Was received with a 1" hole in the top of the mesh covering the door. It .was returned.

Very satisfied with this screen for the price . It was a good fit for my fireplace opening. I would highly recommend this unit.

It's somewhat flimsy and the paint job is odd. I repainted it and will eventually replace it, but for now it works...

I gave the fireplace screen a 3 because I like the design so much. The workmanship, on the other hand, is a 2. I bought one and exchanged it because the corner design was not welded straight, so it had a visual slant on one side. It also rocked (didn't sit flush to the floor); I got a replacement. The replacement was a solid dark brown color except for the green leaves; the center design was also dark brown. I returned it for a refund. I would still like to have the screen, as depicted on the picture. Although the return process was easy, I've chosen not to order it again. It seems as if the Manufacturer does not have quality control to inspect the finished product. If I found it locally I would inspect it myself and purchase it.Deco 79 21634 Metal Fire Screen

had to return twice because first time legs were missing and second time a piece of metal was missing, but third time was right!

We ha to drill a hole that was missing to attach one of the legs. The fern like leaves as part of the design were a bright green. A little craft paint fixed that along with toning down the bright silver center. It looks great, but the manufacturer/assembler needs to pay closer attention.

Be aware that the leaves are very bright green. Contrary to what other reviewers wrote, you can mot just turn it around since the back is unfinished and does not look good at all. Also it arrived missing one of the wingnuts. Luckily we had some around the house we could use, because you cannot build it without them. Having said all that I still enjoy it and it dresses up our fireplace.

It has a dent at the top. I ordered second one which also had a dent at the top although it wasn't as bad as the first. I liked the design but there is no mesh screen to protect against sparks and the base stand forces the screen to be out from the fireplace itself 5-6 inches.

Came a little twisted and needed to straighten

Overall this is nice, but also overall is definitely not worth the $200+ price tag. In addition, mine came with a drill hole completely through the front of the unit by accident - on the bottom right hand side....in a random spot. I would up screwing a black head screw from the front into the hole and luckily as it'son the bottom and close to the edge it "sort of" disappears. The only problem I have in situations like this with Amazon and associated sellers is that I wish there were an option to contact the Seller directly to discuss. The only option is 100% return. I would have liked to ask the seller to consider my keeping the unit but crediting back $xx onto my card for the mishap and return shipping avoidance charges. Both of us would have been happy. Amazon doesn't have this contact and/or option. The all-or-nothing approach on many returns makes it sometimes a disadvantage to buy via Amazon. Lesson: on big(ger) items like this, I'll buy in-person for just these reasons.

I was more fortunate than some purchasers, the screen I got had all of the hardware needed and the wrenches fit. But, the Chinese version of Pewter was actually black with small brush strokes of silver added in some places. Also, the welds that hold the hinges to the doors are very tiny, suprised that none of them broke on the boat ride to the U.S. We do like the looks of the screen, although we really did want the pewter color and may repaint it before installation.

Love the look. Fit our fireplace very well. However, it came to us with a broken weld on one of the supporting legs. not a big deal breaker for me because I have access to a mig welder and had it fixed in 30 seconds. This isn't wrought iron or anything claimed to be so..it's mild steel tubing with a very nice look to it. But here is the good part. When people come over to your home, they will think it is a very expensive wrought iron piece, and it does function very well to keep things inside the fireplace!Pros: Very nice look, reasonable price, simple to setup, functions very well.Cons: not the best build quality, will get very very hot to touch when operating the fireplace.One has to consider the price. at this level you must expect a bit of compromise. If you need perfection look elsewhere.

Got in a week, which was great. I set about putting it together, then discovered a big problem. I had a lot of hardware, too much actually and most of which did not belong to the screen. Only two nuts and bolts actually went to the screen. He instructions requires four nuts and bolts and two smaller bolts. It also included two allen wrenches neither of which actually fit the bolts that went to the screen, they were too small. I ended up having to drive to the hardware store to get what was missing.I have to say that I am very disappointed. When you pay this much for something everything should be included! Yes I could have contacted the company and had hardware sent but I would've had to wait even longer to use it. The screen is beautiful and seems very sturdy and well made. The company just needs better quality control in place.

It's okay. But it needs some work to meet my needs.1). It really offers no visual "screening" effect, which was what I wanted. Something to tone down the look of an unused fireplace in the warmer months when it's not in use. But this is very open and the fireplace is clearly visible behind it. I will try to cut and glue on some mesh material to offer that toned down look.2). The colors are very very subdued. It looks like all distressed bronze color. I can see green on the leaves, depending on the angle and light.3). It's made in China. The quality is passable but not good. There are some bad welding seams, some bolts with burrs on them that kept the wing nuts from going on.4). Assembly should be very easy since it only takes putting on four wing nuts. But the above mentioned issue with the bolts made it difficult.This will be a bit of a project to make it nice, though I think I can do something with it.UPDATEConsidering the price and the lower quality, I returned this item.

Flimsy, poorly built, poorly painted

The "leaves" on the 4-points in the middle are GREEN. Not an antiqued copper verdis green, but KELLY GREEN. The middle circle is SILVER. This doesn't go with the bronze color at all, and is not what I expected from the picture online. Disappointed and returning. I tried to like it, and I can't. It's a lovely design, but the colors are all wrong and not at all as advertised. I've seen other fireplace screens from this company, and most of the mid to low reviews complain of the same thing.

This screen is well constructed but the paint job is horrific....no other word to describe it......it is bright silver, "hot" green and bright yellow!......I will be re painting it for sure....otherwise I'd be embarrassed to have it in my home!

The picture doesn't accurately portray this piece. It's actually got color painted on it... green and purple. This is a disappointment. I was expecting a dark bronze color.

Arrived damaged. Poor construction and cheap looking.

Not at all what we thought it would be.Cheaply made..When we finally did get the bottom put on the base,it was so crooked,it wouldn't even stand up straight..Awful

This item came damaged, which I have read in other reviews. The colors are absolutely not the color in the photos. (Also confirmed by other reviews). It is distinctly green and PINK! It is being returned.

Cheap & not as pictured. Very bright green and ugly silver color! Way over priced! Save your money and do not buy this!

Had to return this one. The screen I received slipped through "quality control". Pieces were missing which rendered the design completely OFF. However, Amazon customer service handled the return with little hassle.

I could live with the colors being brighter in person but the Greek key detail in the corners were crooked and looked ridiculous. Otherwise it was the perfect size and shape for what I needed. Such a shame it is such poor quality. Luckily I received a full refund.

Product arrived without parts kit! The complete absence of a quality control program at the production site really makes one wonder about P&H's commitment to customer satisfaction. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!
