Five Star Reviews: | 81% Clean power for your music gear and computer! August 31, 2017 This thing is amazing! It cleaned up all the noise and hum's I had in my AC circuit in my studio.IT seemed that my computer created a lot of dirt in my AC system, getting noises, buzzez and hum's in every recording room.Very frustrating it was. The Furrman power conditioner cleaned up everything.Recommended for every musician, studio and live tecnician that wishes clean power for their gear. Great product August 11, 2017 I love this tuner. Especially the cord checker. The entire band can use it and see the tuner from a distance. no more tiny tuners. This is tucked away in the rack neatly and works great. I wish the lettering on the front panel was illuminated. You really can't see which jack you are plugging into. May be my old eyes. But brighter or larger font on the jacks would be nice. Great for cleaning up those large cord messes. Good positioning of the plugs. May 31, 2017 Absolutely wonderful! I am super happy with this unit. I am using this for music recording and was having difficulty getting everything powered up safely and without having to hit 20 switches when I was done. Thanks to this wonderful unit, I can power my whole system down with one switch. The position of the plug-ins are super logical! They fit quite a few spots, while still give you 3 spots for wall warts! In addition, I have a plug at the front that has been wonderful for testing new stuff or old stuff that has been sitting around. No need to squeeze behind everything to plug in. Unfortunately I have the an old house that send out crazy amounts of 60 cycle hum, I did notice that it is less now when using my tube amps but I am bad judge because my house is just wired so poorly it's always going to have noise. Your electricity isn't that bad - in most places in the US November 6, 2016 Can't go wrong with a Furman. I had another off-brand rack mount strip almost catch on fire. The lit-power switch on the front started blinking, smoking, and then we powered down half of a high school TV studio. I told the school I want a Furman to replace it. Because of what happened, they listened. However, the one I'm reviewing here is in my personal audio rack. I even have one for my home entertainment center. You don't need one of those massive consumer-oriented "power" centers. Your electricity isn't that bad - in most places in the US, anyway. Just get a pro unit like this. Sleep easier January 30, 2015 I have two of these protecting about $6,000 worth of equipment. I have dirty power at the house (my computer backup battery registered almost 100 events in just over one month last summer) and I was also experiencing a speaker hum problem. These have helped the hum and I rest a lot easier knowing that there is above-average protection for my speaker array (compared to a standard surge protector.) You can google a video demonstration of one of these vs a normal powerstrip and how they respond to a deliberately sent surge. This unit just pops off and waits until the power goes back to normal and then the unit powers back on, no harm done. The power strip catches on fire and the bulb it was feeding burns up. That demo speaks for itself. Furman is a trusted name and now I know why. Would definitely buy another if my gear expands. No need to buy a more expensive power conditioner November 1, 2013 This little unit does exactly what its supposed to do at nice price. It filters unwanted noise from EMI and RFI while providing surge protection. You will notice a difference if your audio components don't have built in power conditioning. There are higher end versions from Furman but this is really all you need for home use. This unit does not regulate voltage. If you have voltage problems with your electrical you need a different solution. | 59% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% Better internet connection. Woo! June 19, 2017 Plugged this guy up and my internet router to it for power. Has made a difference at least seem to be staying online with a 40% better connection. Note: I live in rural environment with noisy power it has helped in my situation your mileage will/may vary as there are too many variables why your ISP can or can't deliver. A very good protection for my audio gear April 17, 2017 This product has enough number of outlets for my audio gear. It's also an inexpensive piece of gear. Having this in my setup makes me not worry about power surges and disruptions that may affect my gear. I'm also not worried about any interference due to this item. Since I am located outside of the US, I hope they added a voltage selector. Great product! September 29, 2016 Awesome for the price! Got rid of the ground loop noise coming from my monitors. The first time I switched it on the noise was still there but when I flipped it off and back on the noise was gone so try resetting it a few times if it doesn't get rid of your noise right away instead of instantly sending it back. It is built tough and it's hard to find a complaint about it. The only thing I can think of that could make it better is if there was at least one outlet on it that wasn't switched to plug my computer into so I can turn everything else off but leave the computer on. It's not perfect, and I still hear some noise August 18, 2016 I use it with an amp anf, some recording devices and my laptop. I used to have ground issues and noise that have mostly gone away with this. It's not perfect, and I still hear some noise, but this definitely helped. Would recommend as a cheap solution. Don't expect it to completely solve power issues. Good, well build product! March 31, 2016 Great power conditioner, I think if you spend more you will have better luck but for home studio it's worked well. On stage you probably will not have any issues as there is a lot of crowd noise. Really Need a Rack for this to Work February 6, 2016 It works fine. I wish they made a deeper version of this so if you don't have a rack you could stack other equipment on top of this. It is problematic to make this work if you don't have a rack. I had to build another shelf in my desk just for this, then had issues plugging in wall warts since they hang down. I had to get an extension cord so that I could plug the wall warts into this. | 14% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% Doesn't eliminate ground hum in electronics October 3, 2017 Didn't eliminate ground hum. Plugs are spaced out pretty well. Since it didn't eliminate the noise, I basically just bought an $80 surge protector. No idea if this worked to reduce noise issues -- sounded exactly the same. June 26, 2017 Unfortunately I have no idea if this worked or not. I have very noisy amps when plugged into my house power. There was no discernible noise difference when plugged into this unit vs. being plugged direclty into the wall (guitar to amp to wall connection). I tested on a couple different amps and guitars. It's unclear to me if my noise is related to power issues or something else entirely. It seems well-made and sturdy, but if there was any lessening of hum January 22, 2017 I bought this unit hoping it would eliminate a minor bit of EMI noise from my home theater setup. It seems well-made and sturdy, but if there was any lessening of hum, it was negligible. I could not tell a difference using this power conditioner versus using a $25 surge protector. From other users' reviews, the M-8X2 might make an audible difference in certain situations, but from my experience, I'd advise saving your money. this is a good choice and worth the money January 7, 2016 If you're looking for a well made plug strip that you can mount into a rack, this is a good choice and worth the money. However, don't expect a lot of noise filtering. In my case, I had to upgrade to the PL-8C to get the noise reduction I needed. They fulfill their purpose; however, be noted they ... September 23, 2015 They fulfill their purpose; however, be noted they are quite short in depth so if you mount them between two pieces of equipment with standard depth it would make really difficult to plug and unplug stuff... | 10% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% Did not work as expected July 12, 2016 Did not work as expected for me. My speakers still have slight noise and when I turn on/off the fan, it still won't filter out the electronic interference. Doesn't seem to solve ground loop noise June 3, 2016 I bought this because I have a home stereo setup that is plagued with ground loop noise when computers are connected in some way. Both my desktop and laptop have a ground loop issue that results in a lot of digital noise coming through my speakers, but only when plugged into the wall. You can hear all the digital switching and everything going on in there; you can even hear onscreen events like windows animating and stuff like that. It would be cool if the sound wasn't so terrible. While this probably does some good stuff, it doesn't seem to be doing very much for my ground loop issue. It might be a bit less loud, but the sound is still highly audible in most listening material. I've tried a few configurations: everything (including the computer) plugged into the conditioner, just the sound equipment plugged into the conditioner, the sound equipment plugged into this conditioner and the computer plugged into a separate Furman SS6B in a different outlet, all to little avail. I think noise is a bit quieter, but it's far from resolved. It gets two stars because we use these with pro audio installations where I work and they've never blown up and we've never had anything explode, so they must be doing something right. But it doesn't seem to solve my ground loop dilemma. Not working well for PC monitor July 25, 2015 My PC monitor is still not stable or black out from time to time. I'm hoping that this item will live up to it's ... June 29, 2015 I'm hoping that this item will live up to it's claim of protecting my electronic equipment, because it certainly does not live up to the claim of "noise reduction." I'm going to keep it because I have already built it into my new unit, but I was really hoping that it would help reduce some of the humming coming from my computer. In Apartments you WILL get white nosie June 26, 2014 some people say they work, they prob do for a house but in apartment or town homes buildings i can guarantee they will be worse then normal. if you want to get passed that, purchase the 250+$ ones. Looking cheap inside and out December 27, 2011 I open and take a look under the hood. There is only one simple circuit, exactly 5 (five) electronic components. 3 capacitors, 1 register, and 1 inductor. It look cheap inside and outside. For me I rather do not use it to save space than use this one. | 7% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 2% Disappointed in the filtering September 15, 2016 I bought this to hopefully get rid of the noise in my computer speakers that started when I installed the TP-LINK AV1200 Power Line Starter Kit. This was supposed to be a good power conditioner, but it did not get rid of the noise at all. Tried different sockets and going through an additional power strips, but no luck. How does one get rid of the Ethernet power adapter noise??? Just... didn't work. March 16, 2016 I believe this is my first review. I purchased this for my home studio as I was getting a buzz through my monitors. Prior to purchasing the Furman M-8X2, I'd started using a much smaller power conditioner with a cheap surge protector running through it, which DID actually eliminate the buzz. Upon seeing the Furman M-8X2, I thought it would be a cleaner, more organized solution as an additional surge protector wouldn't be required. When I made the switch, the buzz returned.Sadly, this sat in the box for a few weeks before I was able to swap things out, and despite it not working as advertised I can no longer return it. That's on me, I suppose. short lived March 27, 2015 Lasted one day before a power surge went through the stepdown transformer and this surge protector couldn't even protect itself. It is now an expensive tech decoration. Just an overpriced surge protector, actually introduced a buzzing noise into my audio amp April 1, 2014 I bought this to filter noise as well to power on all of my audio devices (amp, preamp, and etc)This unit actually introduced a very audible hum/buzz in my equipment that wasn't present before. I put another filter in front of this unit and the noise is now gone. So, No it does not filter AC line noise. In my case it produced noise...Disappointing. | 10% There are no reviews yet |
