Five Star Reviews: | 71% High Quality Low Cost and Logo Free June 27, 2017 I read some of the other reviews, and, for me, these provide firm support and did not have any smell upon opening.I like the support they provide, they're high quality, and perfect for at home yoga routines. What I particularly like is the price and the fact that these are logo free. I checked all sides, and there are literally no logos on these. I don't mind when companies advertise their products, but when they do so prominently, it's hard to find that happy, quiet moment. Fortunately, that's not a problem with these.I initially almost ordered a name brand set of blocks for literally twice as much, and ultimately bought these instead. So glad I did. Namaste. I'm one of the people who bought these to isolate studio monitors from my desk... September 10, 2015 And for that purpose, they work quite well. The blocks are just the right size for most monitors (I'm using them beneath a pair of M-Audio AV30s) and are made of the same material that many of the "proper" speaker stands retailing for twice the price are made of. A few other reviews mention that these things smell really bad - perhaps those people have overly sensitive noses, because I had no such problem. I will add that they are flat, so if you need your monitors angled up or down you might want to look into a different product.I have no idea how well these work as a yoga product, so if you'd like more information about that read a different review. works great for JBL-LSR305 March 30, 2015 Used with JBL-LSR305 monitors, when centered up on each side, the speaker overhangs about 1/2 inch on each side. works great for isolating the speakers from the table, definitely much more clearer low end. can't comment on these for their intended purpose, i'm too fat for yoga. Purchased for a home recording studio, not yoga February 13, 2013 I purchased these blocks to use as stands for my monitors (Rokit 5G2's) to try and get rid of some of that subbass rumble in the desk they were sitting on. For $15 I got two perfectly sized blocks that more than do the job of those $50 monitor pads that some companies sell. I can't hear my desk resonating with the bass anymore, and it was done wonders to clear up the frequency response of my room. This is a must for any home recording studio on a budget, you won't regret it!Also, I decided to try yoga as a sort of karma thing for how much these have helped me. Turns out that's pretty cool too. Great for purposes other than yoga... January 8, 2013 Use this high density foam blocks as a way of isolating my studio monitors from my wooden desk. They also raise the monitors up to a better listening angle. I support these as much as they support me! November 4, 2010 I had read a couple of negative reviews saying that these did not support well enough during yoga routines. I am a big guy, (6'5", 300 lbs.) and these blocks supported me completely. There was a little give when I pressed down on them for moves like half moon and twisting half moon, but it was absolutely necessary! If I would have gotten one of the other sets of blocks that are much harder, they would have really hurt my wrists. I now look forward to some of the intense yoga positions that I had not been able to accomplish before because I have begun to acheive them with the help of the blocks. The sensation that you get when you press down hard on these is the feeling of a stress ball when you squeeze. It is very firm, yet extremely supportive. I also love the different dimensions of the block that allow for varied use in different positions. They are each about the size of a small toaster and I would not be ashamed to bring these along with me to any yoga studio I might visit. It was so convenient that these also came in a two pack that was about the same price as a single block from another company. I don't claim to be a yoga master, but for the average person who is trying to stay fit and healthy, these are fantastic. I use these for my personal stretching and exercise, but I also found that they fit perfectly into the Yoga X routine in P90X. I love these and would recommend them to anyone! | 73% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 16% I still do find them useful, but just note that they are maybe bigger ... October 4, 2017 These blocks are wider than the yoga blocks I am accustomed to. I still do find them useful, but just note that they are maybe bigger than what is needed or desired. I'm happy with them November 11, 2015 Maybe a tiny bit softer than the yoga blocks where I attend class, but just barely. I'm happy with them, and would recommend them. The price is very good. Great! August 17, 2015 These are pretty great, especially for how inexpensive they are. I have had small pieces break out of several of them and I can't even figure out how it happened. But they do the job and they are just as good as some more expensive ones I have. this yoga blocks are great, very firm June 15, 2015 For the price, this yoga blocks are great, very firm, nice color, not too soft but not to hard.I would recomend them to anyone. Stinky but good May 29, 2012 These smell weird when they first come out--chemically plasticky smell, but the smell has faded significantly after about a month. These seem like they are standard size foam yoga blocks and feel the same as the ones that you see at a yoga studio, just a little smellier, haha. They do what they're supposed to, and you get two identically sized/colored ones in this pack which is useful (usually you need 1-2 depending on your pose so having a set is great!). If you're really sensitive to smells, the smell might bother you. I haven't purchased other yoga blocks before though so it might just be the original smell of the materials (whereas the studio yoga blocks are usually a few months old and may have lost the smell of the materials? Not sure.) | 14% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% You have to give it at least a week for the smell to fade. March 23, 2017 Strong chemical smell so I returned. Probably would have been fine if I had more time to wait. Otherwise a fine product. Lights but functional May 14, 2016 Not heavy like some studio blocks I enjoy, but still good for home use. Head's up, they're made of a very light foam. They are a little more squishy than I like, but for the price January 4, 2016 These are ok. Very smelly at first, so I put them in the garage to air out for a couple days. They are a little more squishy than I like, but for the price, not so bad. Good size but a little mushy July 3, 2014 These are okay. They are a little mushy and unstable when you put all your weight on them. Better quality than some of the really cheap ones but not as good as Hugger Mugger by far. I finally upgraded and gave these to a friend. Stinks - literally, but do their job as described February 13, 2013 Opened the package and was blown away by the nasty plastic smell. Have been reading a lot about toxic phthalates and many people have described the stinky plastic smell as a give-away that a product has phthalates in it. Since this product has no "ingredents" label I have no idea. But I am leaving them outside for the smell to wear off before I bring them inside. Wish I had purchased the cork blocks or some other material that doesn't stink. I understand the toxicity of the phthalate gasses (if that's indeed what this smell is) disappear with the smell, so I am fine using them after they air out. These blocks seem sturdy and are as descibed, other than the smell. stinky and soft April 5, 2011 Yes when you open the package, the fumes will nearly knock you out! I put them outside for the night and the next day they were tolerable. That aside, these blocks are firm, but they're soft when you put pressure on them. They're not what I'm used to using at a studio because there is a bit of give to them. Yes they will do the job, but I'd prefer something firmer and closer to experience I have at a studio. | 8% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% Not scratch-proof, feels lower density than other yoga blocks I've had March 19, 2014 Just got these delivered today. I noticed that they seemed delicate and tried to be careful opening them as they are wrapped with a thin sheet of plastic, but they still got scratched badly. Tested them out for a few minutes and they started to show dents already. I have another pair of yoga blocks for years (I forget what brand) and those hardly show any wear, even though they end up in random places around my home. The pros of these are they are inexpensive and they are "taller" than most you see on the retail market—4" high instead of the usual 3". Next time I'll shell out more for a better brand. I wouldn't buy again November 17, 2013 Cheaply made material that gets indented permanently by your finger nails, thumbs, etc. I bought these because the price was attractive, and my good yoga blocks are in storage. I wouldn't buy these again. Received wrong color and damaged product February 27, 2013 I ordered the Sky Blue yoga blocks and received black. One of the blocks also came with a large scratch and a chunk out of it. The material seems cheap and does not look like it will stand up overtime with regular use. Now I wish I would have gone with the Gaiam Yoga blocks. The only reason I did not was the price and the reviews indicating that people liked this block just as much. Not Sturdy Enough October 26, 2011 These blocks are nice and forgiving in terms of softness, but not really sturdy enough for some of the more load bearing poses like supported shoulder stand. Put too much weight on these guys and they start to buckle and make it difficult to maintain the pose. I'd actually recommend buying the Hugger Mugger Yoga Recycled Foam Urban Block 4" Core Stripe Foam Block. It's nice and sturdy but not quite as heavy as cork. These blocks have a terrible rubbery smell April 29, 2011 I purchased three two-packs of these blocks because the price was great (two for the price that most single yoga blocks sell for). They arrived in a timely manner, neatly packaged and looking just as I expected them to look, except slightly sparkly. Unfortunately, the blocks have an extremely strong, rubbery "new tire" smell. I put them outside overnight with the hope they would off-gas the odor but it's now two days since I unpacked them and they're still as stinky as when first unwrapped. I realize that foam yoga blocks must be made of some sort of man-made petrochemical but I've never encountered any that smell so potently toxic. solid blocks but have overwhelming burnt plastic smell April 13, 2011 Bought these blocks to use for P90x. They are just the right size and offer great support during Yoga X. However, I couldn't use them for the first week as I had to air them out on all sides. The blocks had an overwhelming burnt plastic smell, like hot asphalt, right out of the package and it filled the room! I knew about the plastic smell from other reviewers but I didn't think it would be this intolerable. The stench stuck to my hands and whatever furniture the blocks touched, even after washing them with soap and water. Took a week of drying/airing out each side of the blocks to get the odor off. Good thing I found someone willing to take them otherwise I would have sent them back ASAP. I bought a similar set at Walmart (20 bucks for a pair of Danskin blocks plus a yoga strap), which didn't stink out of the package. If you can wait a week to use these or if you don't have a sensitive nose, these blocks may work for you. Otherwise, consider buying other products. | 2% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 5% Toxic yoga blocks! September 6, 2017 This product is toxic! It has a terrible toxic smell, of off-gasing plastic. Terrible product. One Star October 4, 2015 Very strong, awful chemical smell - for a long time. Makes one wonder what exactly they contain. Useless piece of foam November 18, 2014 Complete garbage and poor quality. They come with a strong smell of plastic. These quality of these blocks are horrible. It's like memory foam. Your fingerprints sink in and it leaves a mark. When you use the four inch sides, the block does not provide a solid foundation. I feel like it requires a lot more effort to maintain it upright. Total garbage. Buy better blocks. Strong Odor April 17, 2013 I just opened these and the odor of the foam is so intense it is stinking up my apartment. It seems like they tried to mask it with a grape scent so not only do they smell chemical, they also smell like a grape marker. They do seem quite squishy for yoga blocks but I suppose I won't know until I try them, and I wont be doing any deep yoga breathing until the chemical vapors have escaped. If I had been wise I would have bought the eco friendly type, but how would I have know this is why they are so cheap! Horrible foul chemical smell. Holes in foam, January 28, 2013 Had to take these outside immediately just to breath inside. Hoping fresh air will dilute stench. Blocks also have ait bubble holes in the surface. Not enough to make uneven surface. Just points to short life span. Will avoid nu-scienceinc products form now one. Once burned... . | 3% There are no reviews yet |
