Side by Side Comparison of: Mann Filter vs K&N

I've been using Mann filters for years. Quality product everytime, with the added bonus that this includes the copper crush gasket/washer for your drain bolt on an E36 BMW.

Perfect fit to do an oil change on my 330i. Same part that the dealer had used on a prior oil change, just a fraction of the price. If you're changing your own oil, buy this and save the hassle of finding it out of stock at the auto parts store.

This oil filter fits my 2001 BMW 325i perfectly. Exactly like the original equipment. Comes with everything you see in the picture.

I bought the dealer filter for my 2003 E39 530i to compare and this is identical in every aspect ...... the color, the material, the end glazing, the height and width, and the pleating. The only difference is the numeric stamp and the item is made in mexico. Comes with o-ring and washer. Half the cost and no trip to the dealership. Thanks Mann and Amazon!

What can I say, they work and come with everything you need. And let's not forget, they can be found at a great price on here as well. With a little planning, oil changes (in my case, a 2006 X3) can be done at a fraction of what the shop charges.

I already own the drop in filter for my HCH II and just decided to try their oil filters as well. It is a more quality product than the fram honda filters and its blatantly obvious when holding them side by side. That said, not sure how much a difference it makes to use this filter vs the oem as i will still change oil @5000k's.

Ok this is hard Review. I own a Audi A4 and my wife the Sub Impreza 2.0 (non turbo/wrx) ..the car shares the same engine as the Crosstek. KN Air filters are great and what they are known for. I think this OIL filters is great and excellent upgrade. So I would recommend if you drive a Impreza/Crossteck. The Issue is KN makes GREAT OIL filters as long as they are in this style of housing. However the KN Oil for my Audi that isnt ENCASED in the housing... they are not so good as they often collapse .. so GREAT in Housing not so much where the Housing is on the car.

Sometimes you never see the benefit of something that works day in and day out, but plays an important part of the health of your vehicle. I drive a 2005 Titan that is just shy of 130K miles, and I've always used these filters. Plus having a K&N Cold Air Intake and Banks Monster Exhaust adds to the fun factor, but that's another review... The price and free shipping makes this a great deal.

Fits perfect for a 2013 Civic Si. Works as well or better than OEM in my opinion. Car runs smooth. Used with full synthetic 0w-20 mobil 1. Happy with purchase. Only issue is I wish it were made in the USA like most K&N filters, but it is well constructed regardless.

Disclaimer: I apologize if this sounds in any way like I work for K&N, I honestly don't:I use this K&N Oil Filter on my 2013 Honda Accord V6, because of their build quality and quality control. If you ever have the chance to cut one open (safely) I suggest you do so. When you're done with that compare it to a Fram Oil Filter.The oil filters are completely different in terms of quality, Fram has uneven pleats in the filter, oozing glue, rubber seals that are set askew etc.Oil is the blood of your car make sure you protect it by filtering out all of the harmful contaminants.

Excellent filter. I've used these for about the last 5 oil changes in my vehicle which I use primarily for daily commuting but will put it on the highway for extended trips as well. I always pair with a synthetic oil, usually Mobil 1 which I also will be posting a review for, and the two never let me down. I research all items before I use them on one of the most expensive investments I'll ever make, my vehicle. Currently at 112,000k and have only had to replace the battery in my Honda. Prepping to do some routing maintenance before it's due but as far as the filter goes it keeps the oil looking clean even at the 5k change mark. Never any sludge on the drain plug, always easy to remove by hand, have never needed a filter. Gasket always comes off clean. At the price Amazon has them I picked up a few just to have on hand for future changes. K&N products are a staple in my garage.

Been using Mann filters for years on my BMWs. Good fit-never a problem.

For my 2002 BMW Z3 2.5i, I actually bought this brand with every intention of using it based on Mann's reputation for quality, and then subsequently bought a Mobil 1 brand as I used Mobil 1 oil and the length of service for the two Mobil 1 products were the same (10,000 miles). This sits unused on my shelf.

I'm sure the filter is great. It comes with the filter, rubber gasket, and copper crush washer for your drain plug.

BUT amazon's car part checker said this would fit my 2006 BMW 330i. Incorrect. I should have known better and checked for myself. Correct part# for 2006 330i is Hu 816X.

Works but I was surprised to find that it is made in China

Fits my 2013 V6 Honda Accord. Seem to be decent quality (I have used these before). Would buy again.

Used this K&N filter with a combination and Pennzoil ultra platinum synthetic an consistently gotten 8,500 miles out of my oil on my 2012 Acura TL. 90% my travel so far has been highway mileage.

First time using k&n filter, this one was use in a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, 2 months now and still working good!

These are nice filters but kinda disintegrate when you change them out. The paper where it seals to the round ends came apart like a soaked piece of toilet paper. Change interval was 3000 miles +- 100

It's not a complete filter. Only comes with the big o-ring for the cap and the drain plug gasket. It would be better if it came with all 3 o-ring and skip the drain plug gasket. In my opinion anyway.

Cheaper than getting them off the shelf from your auto parts store. Fits perfectly on 2000 323i bmw. Car has 2.5 inline six cylinder or M52 engine on a E46 chasis.

I took 2 stars off because it did not come with other 2 O rings that go at bottom of filter holder. Good filter but not exact replacement for original factory unit. I previously used a Puralator, bad choice as filter just fell apart as I was trying to replace it. I will check this one in a few thousand miles & see if it stands up better. Very good deal as it's double the price at dealer. Quick service as always with Amazon. Happy with my purchase.

I ordered the same products lately and it is made in China. The size is not exactly same as ordered 1 year ago, around that time, the filter was made in US. The consequences for that is the filter wrench does not exactly fit on the new made-in-china filters. This is the only part I am not so happy about it, other than that, it still works well.

Generally speaking I like K&N products but this filter is noticeably smaller than the Honda or Fram filters I used before. I think smaller = worse in the world of oil filters.

Had ordered this last year. Fits perfectly! Now ordered again. First one arrived, maybe 1/4" too tall. Had difficulty getting the cover closed. Ordered another one, a tiny bit shorter, but probably won't fit perfectly, without pressure and compression.

Who could have thought that their quality control is so abysmal! For such a common item, probably millions made already.

I bought this for a 2006 330i (e90) and absolutely could not get it to fit in the canister in the engine compartment. I'm not sure if this part has been misapplied to my model via the Amazon MyGarage function, but the part did not work for me.

If anyone sees this and can provide some feedback on what I'm doing wrong...I'll gladly tweak this. It was only 7 bucks and I'm not jaded, but would like to know why this thing won't fit my BMW as an OEM filter.

Terrible part was missing gasket didn't fit.saysits for 325i. Wrong size my machanic 30 yrs foreign cars..

amazon's application guide is mis-leading in some cases. be aware that in some cases when it indicates that "this fits your______"
it is not always correct, do your due diligence to make sure.

Takes 1-2 seconds longer for the oil lamp to go off at cold start vs M1, Bosch or Mann filter. Think something wrong with anti drain back value.

I went to the K&N website before I placed an order for this filter to get some more information and after doing so I saw that the box for this filter on the website had made in the USA on it, being that I like to buy items made in America I placed an order. When the filters arrived I discovered that they were not made here but were made in CHINA! I will say that they seem to be a well made filter but I was highly disappointed of them being foreign made. I will not be buying anymore K&N products!

The K&N website wording characterizes both the PS and the HP series filters as premium, but the PS series is certainly NOT a premium filter at all.The metal in the housing is thinner, its diameter is smaller, the flow-holes around the central mounting hole are smaller, and the width of the sealing gasket is not as wide. There is a sloppy amount of glue between the base plate and the outside housing. The term "contractor grade" came to mind as being a cheaper, barely functional product designed for a jobber, not the end-user with an eye on quality.I've asked K&N to consider changing the wording of their product description to more accurately reflect the inferior quality of this filter compared to the HP-series.Since I don't need the HP series "nut" on top of the filter, I thought I'd save a buck or two on a filter of equivalent quality otherwise. Poor economy.-----------UPDATEI've received satisfactory responses from K&N staff in their marketing and in their consumer affairs departments. I identified myself as a longtime customer and expressed disappointment that the "PS" series failed to live up to expectations. Based on their subsequent communications with me I remain a loyal customer.

The website said that this would fit my 2006 530xi. It didn't and wasn't even close. I should have verified with another vendor. I passed the return window so I'm disappointed.

For some reason Amazon thinks this filter fits the N52 engine but it does NOT. I have been halfway through two oil changes after ordering this to DIY my 330i's oil and been stuck with the wrong filter. Update this please!

Ordered the two pack... two filter boxes were overly taped to together, one felt funny so I peeked in and there was no filter, just a empty box! Super disappointed!!

doesn't fit my E60 525 2006

States on the ordering details that this product will fit 2006 E90 BMW 330I. That information is incorrect the filter is longer and the rubber ring is larger then the one that fits the E90.

These are made differently than filters from last year. They used to come with a flat gasket. They are now rounded at seating area. There are other changes made to the oil passages. Better than earlier models? Probably just cheaper to produce. After reading other recent comments I WILL NOT BUY THIS K&N FILTER EVER AGAIN. POS, made in China BS.

I used this filter for my last oil change and I was happy with the price and performance of this made in USA product. When I started my oil change today I noticed the new filter looked a bit different from the old filter I just removed. Specifically the spring inside is visible and different, the antidrainback valve is different, the gasket is different and the pattern inside the filter has different size and shape holes. To top it all off its now made in China. I am not going to pay the same money for a different product design made overseas. I have to assume the quality is reduced compared to the previous design and I am returning for a refund.

uh, this is an oil filter for 1969 Honda Z50 K1???? Not. I ordered for the bike shown and got this. huh???

Not sure whose fault it was b/c after filling out the make, model, year, and number of cylinders to match up my car I was shipped the incorrect size filter.

They sent the wrong part. Do your home work and double check part numbers before you drain the oil in your truck
