Five Star Reviews: | 85% Solid May 5, 2017 Extremely nice to be able to wrench it off. Shipped well, and comes with a window decal to remember your mileage! Perfect! December 7, 2016 The Best filters made hands down, I use it on my race motor built for a Scion FR-S (BRZ, GT86 Toyota86) easy on and easy off. I took my first one apart and was surprised at the surface area, metal and rubber anti-siphon setup. Seriously the HP-1004 is an amazing product. All I use March 3, 2016 I use K&N with every thing. I took a saws all and have cut filters in half. K&N and Purulator were the best. Most were junk. Then there is the micron rating. The junk ones are up to 4 times more. At least it is easy to tell materials and construction when cutting apart and how much surface the filter type has for filtering. One was paper inside. extension and socket for super easy install and removal March 1, 2016 whoever invented welding a hex head on the end is a genius. use ratchet, extension and socket for super easy install and removal. Especially when dealing with a tight area. I use these filters for that reason alone. K&N Oil filters for life! January 26, 2012 I've been using K&N oil filters in my Talon and Evo for the past decade, through many different track events. They're very high flowing filters with low pressure drop. K&N has charts on their website that shows how well they flow in low oil pressure situations, where competitors do not as well. Add to that the easy socket on the end for removal, and you have the best oil filter out there, IMO! No you probably won't notice any differences using this filter over others. It's kind of like peace of mind, trusting and knowing it will perform in tough situations. Don't go cheap on the little things for your car, especially when Amazon offers it for 9 bucks, it's only a few more then the cheapest Bosch's out there. | 87% Fits Duramax! January 3, 2017 I have a 2004.5 Duramax with the LLY. This oil filter should fit all Duramax's. Take a spin on filter December 4, 2016 PF2232 was a fit for the 05 duramax. you have to appreciate oem quality part at fair prices. quality performance & peace of mind. Satisfaction at a fraction of dealer invoice. to your door no less. winner winner Good August 6, 2016 It fits our 2005 GMC. My husband didn't have any trouble putting it on. Seems to be working right no problem. It got her in a nick of time. We like the fast delivery in which it came here. Get this one now! July 8, 2016 Exactly what I needed for my diesel truck. This is a high quality oil filter and exceeds my expectations. I can tell my truck is running better now with this oil filter in it. Fits my GMC Sierra 2006 Diesel fine December 4, 2015 Fits my GMC Sierra 2006 Diesel fine. I've purchased these here every time as it's cheaper and I've never had an issue. Perfect fit for my Chevy 2500hd diesel truck August 4, 2015 Perfect fit for my Chevy 2500hd diesel truck. It is nice to be able to get these things delivered and know that if amazon tells you if it will fit your vehicle, then it will fit. Everything that said will fit my vehicle has been perfect so far. |
Four Star Reviews: | 8% K & N has been a great filter and is doing the job on the car ... February 4, 2017 K & N has been a great filter and is doing the job on the car now, I am in hopes that it will last at least 10k miles as it should A socket works fine, but a wrench will not always bite August 5, 2016 The rounded edges make it a pain to get purchase on the extension. A socket works fine, but a wrench will not always bite. solid April 15, 2015 Have not installed it yet. Still trying to acquire a 1" socket as the Kia Soul has a ridiculous plastic sheath covering the engine. 2 little holes where the oil plug & filter reside. Can't use a wrench. The filter itself seems hefty in weight considering how small it is. Don't know why. A solid filter..... Be aware of manufacturing changes November 10, 2014 I used to use these exclusively on my Honda S2000, but I don't think I'll be buying from Amazon anymore. Both of these filters were purchased from Amazon, are both HP-1004 filters, but the plates are quite different. Logic dictates that bigger and more holes means more oil can flow through the filter when needed without going into bypass. If I'm buying from a store, I can take the filter out of the box and make sure it's got eight holes before I buy it. Does it matter? Maybe not, but I don't see a cost-savings reason for changing the design, and there's no way it can help, only hurt. For what it's worth, the 5 hole filter says "Made in Korea" and the 8 hole filter says "Made in Mexico." Could the 5 hole filter be a counterfeit? Probably not, but I don't know. A bit costly but easy to remove June 7, 2011 My Acura TL's OEM oil filters were a PITA to remove with conventional oil filter wrenches. Spent a bit extra for the K&N and with a 1" socket (or adj wrench) can easily crack them loose. | 9% Factory oil filter replacement May 30, 2017 Factory oil filter, not quite up to par of the Mobil 1 filter in my opinion AC Delco OEM quality- cheaper than dealer February 21, 2016 OEM quality for truck. This is a good filter and price for this particular filter. This fits the GM duramax diesel engine. The owner wanted OEM only, and as you might have learned from my other reviews, I would rather order and have delivered than go into town to get. About same price when factoring in gas and time to go to the parts store. Many of the local places do not have great selection of OEM, and dealer prices- well, you already know the answer to that! Fast delivery and was just what I needed. Oil filter review July 23, 2015 Have not installed it yet, as I am in-between oil changes. I like most AC/Delco products, as they are OEM grade. But I am not a 'brand- fan'.In the past, they have not been disappointing in their quality. A choice of many enthusiasts August 30, 2014 Not sure how to compare filters as I am not a mechanic. I've used various brands on my duramax. I went with the Professional filter due to discussions on blogs about their quality, between fellows that know a lot more than I do about filters. Men are easily duped by the "professional" label on some products. But if I'm going to put a high quality synthetic oil in my engine, I would like to make sure I am maximizing its life with a good filter. |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% Poor anti-drainback valving March 21, 2016 Almost caused my engine to seize. Poor anti-drainback valving. Had on car for less than 3k miles. wouldnt recommend this filter. wish I could get my money back for it. All brands say they are the best. September 9, 2014 there is really no way to know.Cutting one open and having it tested in a lab.Or taking there word for it.All brands say they are the best. Recent redesign causing fitment issues for special applications June 23, 2014 Original design has 5 holes for oil feed, new design has 8. New design should improve oil flow. Original design has a thinner but a perfectly working o-ring gasket. New design has a much taller/thicker gasket that sits way outside where the oil filter sits, more prone to tearing/ripping due to overtightening Original design has a nearly flush section where the filter threads onto the engine block. If you lay the filter flat the hole where it threads sits a lot closer to the outside of the filter. The new design the center hole is recessed further a tad, basically pushing the hole further away from the engine where it needs to be tightened. On my 2000 civic, fully built d16y8, I run a greddy thermostatic oil sandwich plate and the oil filter adapter is slightly shorter than the stock threads that come off the block. The older filter with a thinner o-ring gasket and flatter section where it threads never gave me an issue with mounting this. I recently tried using this newer redesign and I could only get the filter threads off the block to barely touch the center hole of the oil filter. If I had pressed on the filter enough to start tightening I'm sure the o-ring would've seen too much pressure just from tightening and would split/tear/leak. I can use either design on my s2000 just fine but any application where you run a sandwich plate of any kind that might shorten the oil filter threads this redesigned filter will cause issues. I just emailed K&N to see what they're doing about this, I would give this filter 5 stars but after this recent fitment issue it's going to a 3, will simply not fit every application it was made for. I would like to use this better flowing redesign but I can't because I can't tighten it down...I've only run K&N HP-1004 filters on both my cars since I've owned them, 3 years for the s2000 and 8 years for the civic. WAS made in USA June 10, 2014 I read a magazine article once on how oil filters were made and the components in them. [...] K&N seemed to be one of the better built in my opinion. I ordered one for my mower and was pleased to find it made in the USA. That was 2 years ago. The one I received recently is made in Mexico. | 1% I'm sure the PF2232 is a great filter, unfortunately I don't have the truck to ... July 25, 2016 According to Amazon Garage, this shows that it is the correct filter for the 6.0L GAS engine. It is not the correct filter. It about twice the size as the correct filter, which is an ACDelco PF46E. I'm sure the PF2232 is a great filter, unfortunately I don't have the truck to find out though. |
Two Star Reviews: | 1% Does not work 2005 Hyundai Accent hatchback October 22, 2015 While this item does fit my car, the threading on the top of the filter is too deep inside. Meaning it won't seal correctly when screwed on, ultimately leading you with a driveway full of that brand new oil you just bought with it. Additionally, the 1" nut on the bottom of the filter is also very Rounded. Not very wrench-friendly. Could've been a great buy, too bad it didn't even make it past the install. | 0% Two Stars August 17, 2017 Came without the plastic cover. Box was opened and damaged. Product seemed ok and clean but.... |
One Star Reviews: | 3% Cheap gimmick. April 15, 2017 The "nut" is extremely rounded and made of soft metal with a hollow center. I took off the first filter I bought of this type today, the "nut" had rusted and the paint was chipped all around it. I tried removing it with 15/16", 1", 24mm, and 25mm sockets, not a single one would seat well on the nut (because of how shallow it was and the damage caused by rust). All that resulted was more and more stripping of the "nut" until it was unusable. The only way I was able to remove the filter was by destroying the filter with an oil filter wrench (crushing in the sides) and then destroying the wrench by using a channel lock to rotate the oil filter wrench around. Oh, and the o-ring came off of the filter and was stuck to my engine so I had to use a needle nose to peel it off of the engine before I could put the new filter on. The worst thing is I had already purchased a second filter of this type to replace the first, not realizing it was a cheap gimmick that wouldn't work. I don't look forward to my next oil change. I don't understand how the thing could even rust as much as it did since my model vehicle has a large plastic cover under the engine and, specifically, the oil filter. It would have never been directly splashed on or rained on. Car Stats: 2015 Kia Soul + 18,000 mile oil change Be carefull with these filters. August 21, 2016 You better use a safety wire on these.Had one almost come off on my s-2000 and dumped all but quart on the ground.Filter was put on very tight.I have always used other brands with no problems.Had one on my BMW R-1200-rt and it also loosened but I saw the oil spot before it loosened altogether.I wont be using these again. This filter have bad seal on Kia Forte5 SX 2015 October 6, 2015 This filter have bad seal on Kia Forte5 SX 2015. I had to remove it in two weeks due to leaks. leaked, dont buy. September 28, 2015 Bought oil filter for 2011 kia optima sx, filter was installed with synthetic oil as normal. A few days later I noticed a line coming from car, was hot and thought it was a/c dripping, but I later seen it drip as I pulled out when a/c was off. I looked under car and oil all over underside of car. long story short, the little hole in the wrench part on top of filter was leaking due to, bad assembly? I hand tighten my oil filters, so never used or use a wrench to put oil filters on. I can hold the filter in my hand, shake it and oil comes out of the hole(you can see the hole on picture). I could have easily blown my motor, plus being a turbo, running low on oil is bad news. I've always been a k&n fan, but will never buy one with this easy off wrench end. If I could give zero stars I would. If you don't believe me, look up this online, its more common than you may think, I looked after this happened to me. | 3% This does not fit 4wd trucks. On 4x4's the ... April 2, 2017 This does not fit 4wd trucks. On 4x4's the front shaft run right under the filter so a short one is required. So even if Amazon says it fits it doesn't. Misleading ad August 3, 2012 There is nothing wrong with the filter they are good. It's the way they are advertised. It shows 2 filters thinking your getting 2 but of course you only get one which at this price is NOT a good deal. I could have went to the local auto parts store and got it for that. I guess that's what I get for not looking for the letter S on the end of the word filter. I can't stand when people do that kind of deceptive looking ads. |
