Five Star Reviews: | 66% great product to have inside your September 9, 2017 I could find this product anywhere near my house I had one and they stole it from my car at a valet, great product to have inside your car Works great for me May 24, 2017 Works great for me. Have it in my glove compartment and use it when needed. Its been months and still working good. Thanks! Very Satisfied April 4, 2017 Finally a pencil style tire gauge that is accurate, well made and has a nipple to let air out of the tire. Definitely recommend! Much better than similar but inferior products I have purchased at auto and big box stores. Very precise little gauge. March 21, 2017 After changing my tires, i pulled out this little fella to gauge my tires, the mechanic laughed and said it couldn't possibly be precise. He pulled his $80 "professional" gauge. We both got exactly the same number. He was bummed!I thought i lost my first Gorilla tire gauge, so i bought a second one. Tested both in all 4 tires, both are calibrated perfectly.Would definitely recommend! | 78% Super value, great multi tool for your car. February 8, 2017 I recently bought this tire gauge as I needed one and it was well reviewed here on Amazon. I really didn't read about everything that it does as all I needed was a tire gauge. Now that I have it I'm amazed at all the cool and useful things it can do! Not only will it check your tire pressure but it's a flashlight, a window hammer for emergencies, a seatbelt cutter and more! It fits nicely in your hand and is super useful. I'm now making sure that my wife knows where it is kept in the car so that she has it handy if needed. Nice product, thanks! Great bonus safety tools! May 9, 2016 What a great tool for a great price! First I like the easy to open packaging. It comes in a simple box-not impossible plastic. I originally bought this just for the tire gauge. I was pleasantly surprised to find the emergency tool that go along with it: flashlight, hammer and seat belt cutter. What great value for a very useful tool for car safety. My gear-head husband is going to love it for Father's Day gift. This is the gold standard November 29, 2015 This is the gold standard. Strong, sturdy and accurate. I tested the digital gauge against another digital gauge and a TPMS on 8 tires and all 3 were in complete agreement. The button to turn on the LED display also turns its display light. A separate switch lets you choose either a red warning LED or a white LED flashlight. The flashlight is nothing spectacular but it's serviceable. The features that set this unit apart for me, though, are the protected seat belt cutting blade and the flip out pointed hammer head for breaking car windows. As a multipurpose safety tool I was so impressed I bought eight more to give to my children and their wives for Christmas so all their cars will have one. I can't give a better recommendation than that. One of my best finds on Amazon. October 26, 2015 Simply put, this gauge is fantastic. I've had several of the cheaper digital gauges and this one is a night and day difference. I primarily use this on my corvette that I take to the race track. I need an accurate tire gauge for performance reasons and this fits the bill perfectly. I also love the additional added features that make it more than just a gauge. An awesome tire pressure gauge, highly recommend! October 13, 2015 This is an awesome tool. I previously used the old fashioned tool where it would pop out from the pressure and you just have to read the numbers, but it was horrible. I could never get it right on the valve stem and it always took forever to get the correct reading. This tool is so easy to use, I get the correct reading in no time. I can't believe it took me this long to get a digital tire pressure gauge. Its nice that it comes with a flashlight and other amenities, I just hope I never actually need to use them. The screen does not stay lit blue as you use it, just turns on for a few seconds. It has a matte black finish so it doesn't leave any fingerprints on it.I wish it also had a little tool to press onto the valve to remove extra air but the window breaker does the job well too. I actually like checking the pressure now. If you have the old tire pressure gauge tool that would push out from the pressure a digital one is the best tool to have. Must-have for your car August 7, 2015 This tire pressure gauge works well for it's main purpose, and appears to do a decent job on the other things it offers. Pressure readings are quick and accurate, without any jumping around trying to find the correct reading. It's a bit hard to read the display when you have the valve connected, but the reading stays on the backlit display for a few seconds so it doesn't cause any issues. Both of the LED flashlights could be a bit brighter, but they're only being powered by 1 AAA battery so it's understandable. The seat belt cutter has some flex, but the screws might need some tightening. Also, it appears that it might be a bit difficult to get a good angle when using the window hammer, but I don't believe that you need a lot of force thanks to the sharp point. The tire pressure LCD is powered by a button cell battery (included), and the flashlight and backlight are powered by an AAA battery (not included). All of the features that this tool has are things that you should keep in your car, and now you only have to purchase and keep one thing rather than having to spend money and possibly lose/hassle with them individually. |
Four Star Reviews: | 19% Learning curve ahead. May 21, 2017 Shallow opening for valve stem. A little harder to use than the Milton for example. Excellent pressure gauge to keep in your glove compartment October 30, 2013 Typical pencil style gauge that is a quality above what I was able to find in Pep Boys (Slime brand name). It works fine and readings are comparable to the pencil gauge I keep in the other car. I'll say that I used to have one of those pressure gauges with a digital readout in the car, but I was out in the sunshine recently when the car said that one tire was low on air. I was unable to read the readout in the bright sunlight. I threw the gauge away and bought this pencil gauge. Pressure too low for a bike, good for cars June 5, 2013 This only received 4 stars because I originally purchased it for my bicycle. When it arrived, I found the PSI gauge did not go high enough to be effective for my bicycle (I believe it goes to 50, and my road bike tires wanted 65+). The gauge is of good construction, and while it's not designed to give exact readings I enjoy how simple it is and happy I don't have to worry about the batteries dying, etc. This pump was a great deal on Amazon, so I plan on just throwing it in my car's glove compartment for use on the car. | 13% Gets the job done. Anything out there that looks the same, is the same. March 20, 2017 Cheap little gadget that gets the job done. Seems to be accurate for taking tire pressure, which is helpful. This is replacing my old, similar tire gauge because it broke, but that one also had a swiss army knife-like compartment on the bottom part of it that I got some use out of-- this one does not (the small scissors were also very useful).RIP to my old tire gauge. Very happy with McLintech pressure gage June 2, 2016 Distributor was great - well packed and delivered very quickly. I was highly impressed by the rapid turn around from ordering to delivery. The tire gage appears to work well. However, the gage light switch did not work right out of the box. After taking all of the screws out and disassembling the gage, was able to free up the light switch. After re-assembly, everything worked well and the light switch now works. The battery screw is ridiculously small - I will likely lose it when I have to replace the gage battery. Since I haven't verified calibration nor have any historical evidence of durability, can't elevate yet to a 5 star rating. The gage feels sturdy and should hold up to lots of abuse. It has an emergency pointy tipped hammer to break windows in case I find myself at the bottom of a lake while in my car - a situation I plan to completely avoid. Worth the money, but only just. March 10, 2016 Verdict: A well-built, multi-functional car tool that functions as advertised.PROS::) Fast, accurate tire pressure readings in any of 4 units (I use psi):) Multi-functional and well-built - The seatbelt cutter and window "smasher" are nice features, which I hope you never need. The overall build quality is high.:) Well lit - There are two lighting options, a "torch", which is a slightly underwhelming single white LED at the head of the tool, and a "LED", which is a red LED focused near the point you'd attache the gauge to the tire valve.:) Easy on the eyes - The blue back-lit LED display makes for an easy read of your tire pressure under any lighting conditions.CONS::( You have to press pretty hard on the valve to get a reading, which also causes air to bleed from the tire. This is especially problematic if the stick in the valve is misaligned (I lost 0.5psi measuring the pressure on a faulty valve):( The window smasher is somewhat hard to open and close. I imagine this would be even more difficult in a real world setting when you needed it right away.:( Requires two different batteries, only one of which is included. You'll need to supply your own AAA battery, an older watch-style flat battery is included. When the batteries die, I have no idea other than trial/error how to tell which to replace.WRITE-UP:Having tested the pressure gauge against two separate units, the readings appear to be accurate within 0.5psi. The tool feels solid in your hand and after my 3 year old unintentionally drop tested it (twice) I can attest to its durability, not a scratch! The size of the device makes it ideal for storage in the glove compartment. I bought this because I have a faulty valve, which causes a slow leak on one of my car tires, so I expect to use this a lot. I'll amend the review after some time to update you on how it works over time.It would be nice if you didn't have to press so hard on the valve to get a reading, or that doing so wouldn't release pressure from the tire, but I understand these are issues with any digital gauge that does not screw on to the valve. Let's hope you never have to rely on the emergency tools, but it's nice to have them in one place. Let's also hope you don't need the lights on the tool as they are underpowered with the white LED being about as bright as those you'd find on a small keychain and the red LED being nearly invisible in all but darkness and mine appeared misaligned with the point of contact between the valve and the gauge tip. Good buy! November 17, 2015 This is a cool, sleek little gauge. Digital display is bright and easy to read, and the Windows punch is handy when you put too much air in it! lol My only complaint is that the numbers should be upside down so you can read them when the nozzle is actually on the tire stem. As it is, you have to remove and invert it before the numbers are right side up.All in all though, great tool to have. Great Multi-Tool For Car Safety October 27, 2015 Pros:*The LCD Display is bright and visible as promised.*The shape is sturdy and feels nice while holding it.*The flashlight and safety light are helpful when looking for the valve in the darkCon:*The flashlight wasn't as bright as expected. If this is meant to be an all in one car safety tool, the light should be brighter in order to be used for more than just tire inflation.Other than that, this is a great multi-tool for car safety. Was getting frustrated with low tire pressure warning light was ... August 8, 2015 Was getting frustrated with low tire pressure warning light was constantly turning on.Have used a standard tire pressure gauge to check pressure for many years. This baby indicated that they were low by almost 8psi.Inflated tires to pressure shown on this gauge and so far no more warning lights.Only con is the test orifice is plastic vs. metal. Hope it holds up in the long run! |
Three Star Reviews: | 7% Not very accurate, but portable June 19, 2017 Not very accurate vs my other gauges but does the job to check whether tire has even pressure with the other 3. This is a product that everyone with a car should ... May 21, 2016 This is a product that everyone with a car should have in some shape or form. Most gas stations have a spot to fill up tires with air and most of those stations have an intrinsic pressure gauge that you can use, but having a gauge of your own is much simpler and convenient. It is relatively compact, but there is some variability based on the angle at which you test the tire pressure.Since there is variability in measurement, you often have to use multiple attempts at multiple angles to get the correct reading. There will never be an over estimation of tire pressure, to the highest value achieved is the actual tire pressure. Tire Pressure Gauge Adequate for Everyday Use March 28, 2014 This is a basic, pencil-type tire pressure gauge, no more, no less. It does its job, although I find it a bit more difficult to make a straight, air-tight connection than with some units, especially where the tire valve is short or angled. Nevertheless, with some jiggling it eventually seals to the valve well enough, and it appears to be fairly accurate and well built. Not that accurate March 22, 2014 Gives you a "ball park" figure of your tire pressure, not not entirely accurate. Had to take my car to a gas station, and then to the dealer to see how really low the tire pressure was, and why the light was always on. Not bad for the price, but not that accurate either. Parts fall apart. February 20, 2013 I think this is better than the indicator at gas station but the sliding indicator and the spring etc.. pop out when I was trying to take my first measurement. I am able to put it back but never compared to other gauge to find out how accurate that is. | 4% Good but major problems April 28, 2017 Psi is accurate. It is really easy to accidentally leave one of the two lights on due to the way the sliding button works, draining your batterys. Just an OK tire gauge February 20, 2017 The unit I received did not function properly as the "glass break" hammer would no release. This was reported to the company and the response was they would send a replacement unit.... they never did send a replacement. I don't understand why this is the "Top Rated TIre Gauge on Amazon". It is a lightweight, not very durable plastic unit that might be ok for checking bicycle tires, etc. but it's not exactly what I expected as "Top Rated..."; just an OK unit. Good to have this safety tool in each car December 15, 2016 The tire gauge seems to be ok, but the short length of the part that fits on the tire valve causes a problem when using it with tires that have wheel covers. I planned on using it for my RV but the wheel covers prevent that. I'll use the two that I bought for my cars instead. Good to have this safety tool in each car. Window smasher is hard to open August 13, 2016 It's alright, however in a pinch, say after a vehicle has gone under water and the windows are non functional. With hands wet, the window smasher would be hard to open. Other than that, it's pretty good. Tire pressure guage works well. Seemed like a great tool... June 8, 2016 This tire gauge stood out to me in part because of the multiple safety features it has. The belt cutter and glass breaker were important things for me to have in the glove box. The LED light and backlit display were selling points. Where I assume the belt cutter and glass breaker still work, I'm a little disappointed by the fact that the LED light and the backlight for the display screen both stopped working after a few months. The gauge still gives a fast reading it's just that I can't actually see the results if I'm in a low lighting situation. Not a very reliable product from my experience. Air gauge is good. Flash light is OK January 12, 2016 Air gauge is good. Flash light is OK, not super bright but would work in an emergency. Haven't had the need to use the knife, hope I never have to. The window hammer has some issues. The slide took almost everything I had to get it to the open position. My wife could not get it to open. I doubt in an emergency you would be able to work it. Once I got it opened I just left it locked in the open position so that if I ever do have an emergency and need it.... it is there. |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% the one that was not damaged works just fine. May 23, 2015 2 of 3 came with dents in the barrels. one of those does not function and has been discarded. the one that was not damaged works just fine. Not very accurate May 17, 2015 i purchased two of these for our cars as well as an electronic unit that works very well. These were reading 8 psi under my electronic unit. So, basically I won't be using them. If you want an American made good quality tire gauge by one made by Milton February 11, 2015 I purchased this air gauge due to a comment that it was made in the USA and I wanted to put one in the glove box of a new vehicle. When it arrived I immediately knew that it was cheap. It did not feel durable and when I looked on the gauge it said "Taiwan". I immediately contacted Amazon to send this back. If you want an American made good quality tire gauge buy one made by Milton. The Milton is definitely the better product. It is more accurate December 19, 2014 Since they are both so inexpensive, I decided to try both the Gorilla TG1 and the Milton S921. The Gorilla consistent reads 3 lbs lower than either the Milton or the other 3 gauges I already had, so I returned it. The Milton is definitely the better product. It is more accurate, plus it has a deeper cup to fit over the valve stem, making it much easier to fit it squarely on and get a good quick reading. It's hard to get the Gorilla square on the valve stem, so you end up getting poor contact and an even lower reading half the time. Definitely go with the Milton. Broke with light use June 14, 2014 I used this gauge sparingly, just to check and top off my car tires when needed. When not in use it was stored in a protected area, so it didn't get banged around. But last week the top part just fell off while I was using it. You can see that it was machine pressed onto the shaft and lightly crimped at the edges to hold it in place. The top part will snap back on, but I had to wonder if the psi reading is still accurate (or if it really ever was). Tossed it out. Top Broke off February 4, 2013 The top broke off of it after only a few times. Pretty disappointed that it came off so easily. Glued it back on but now im not sure I can trust the reading. Although I do like the body of the gauge which seems to be metal opposed to the plastic ones I normally see. | 1% I prefer my old analogue dial gauge. September 16, 2017 I find the gauge awkward to use. It is easy to accidentally switch from lb. to kp. The built in light isn't much use since it shines away from the chuck. The window breaker gets hung up when trying to open and requires two hands-one to press release and other to press down on hammer point. That's an extra step you don't need in an emergency. The gauge seems accurate if a bit clumsy to get on the valve stem. A tire gauge with a bunch of other useless garbage attached. January 16, 2017 This is a highly accurate tire pressure gauge (down to 0.5 psi), and works very well. However, it is filled with useless other garbage that I'll never use. A seat belt cutter, really? When was the last time you needed to cut off your seat belt? And if you had to, did your thought immediately go to "if only I had a tire pressure gauge that also cuts seat belts!"? I think not.And you can also change the setting from PSI to about 10 other settings, none of which are useful to anyone in a developed country. But hey, if it floats your boat...The LEDs on this thing are worth about $0.0001 and are basically useless as a flash light. Use your car's headlights if you need to see something in the dark. Or the moonlight, it's probably brighter. Found something better January 10, 2017 Too plasticky and the position of the nozzle is not quite right. Product quality control is lacking. February 16, 2016 Item needs some better quality control. The sliding release button sticks and makes it difficult to release the hammer part of the tool. I bought this for my wife but she doesn't have the hand strength to use it because of this issue. Pretty much useless now. Not built like they use 2! August 30, 2015 Cheap. I have another one similar to this and the tip and the seat belt cutter is made out of metal. Not what I expected and expensive for being plastic. The other one I had is made of metal and came with case. Giving 2 stars for those reason. |
One Star Reviews: | 4% Poor design November 4, 2015 As another reviewer says, "hard to keep head on tire square to get accurate pressure reading". Definitely poor product design that I would never have purchased if I could have handled it prior to purchase.Amazingly highly rated, tells me that most people don't know the difference. It's not worth returning given the cost of shipping so it will go in the trash can -- it's a cost of trying to save time. Poor product would not buy again or recommend it June 22, 2015 looked ok at first- but hard to keep head on tire square to get accurate pressure reading. Poor product would not buy again or recommend it. One Star December 9, 2014 Does not perform well. Reads 10psi low and caused problems re having incorrect tire pressure until car was serviced. Didn't work December 3, 2013 Bought one a couples months ago and left it in my car. When I went to use it this week, I found that the connection wouldn't fit into my tire nozzle to measure air. I looked and the pin or whatever that's in the nozzle and found it pointed slightly to the left. | 4% Hammer portion of this product/tool does not release easily. Had to use WD40 January 21, 2017 Hammer portion of this product/tool does not release easily. Had to use WD40. Too much button pushing to get PSI measurement. Should be able to set it on one measurement scale for constant use and switch only when needed. Reading should disappear with 5 seconds so you can fill tire and check again or move on to next tire. Defective safety equipment December 29, 2016 Defective! I ordered this for my son for Christmas, and just in demonstrating how it works, the window breaking head became jammed and will not come out. Thank goodness that happened while testing it and not when he really needed it!! Be careful relying on this to help you in an emergency! Bad quality meter December 22, 2016 Update to a previous 4 star review. Bad quality. 7 months after purchasing 2 meters, one ceased to give readings, despite still working both torch and led. Battery changed with no effect. No clear instructions on how to change product on amazon website. I had to buy a different product. I thought this was a great product when I first got it September 20, 2016 I thought this was a great product when I first got it, but then part of the LED display stopped working and the tip to the tire gauge broke off. I've only ever had this product in my glove compartment, so I don't see how it would have broke in the first place... currently looking to buy a different product... One Star February 14, 2016 This product turns off randomly while using, which is extremely inconvenient. |
