Probably the Best API Product Available
June 28, 2017
I have made the switch to Seachem products for most of my fresh water needs, but they don't have a product exactly like Stress Coat. It's like Seachem Prime if Prime also helped injured fish. I add this every time I change water or get new fish to help reduce their stress and condition the water (in addition to adding Prime and Stability). When you add it to the tank, you can actually see the slime-like nature of the chemical sink, so it doesn't appear to be diluted with water (although looks may be deceiving, this is my observation). I have had great luck with it. It has never hurt any thing from invertebrates to plants or driftwood, filters or fish. Would recommend!
Almost perfect except
March 20, 2017
Overall this is a great product and does it's purpose but I Will not buy this product again, I'm switching to seachem products. This is great for beginner fish keepers. I have large tanks and this isn't very concentrated so I had to use almost half the bottle the first time I used it.. it's great for people who have less than 100gallons and don't do weekly water changes. I have lots of piranhas and cichlids such as oscars. If this came in a more concentrated form and gave me more than just a stress coat, I would stick with it.
A Little Fish Told Me
November 8, 2016
My Koi told me that they prefer this brand of stress coat better than the more expensive brand. How do I know this? Well, I'm not going to tell you directly because then you'll think that I'm psychotic and talk to fish. But as you know fish don't talk so we have to communicate by Vulcan mind meld.I was on an episode of Star Trek and Mr. Spock taught me this procedure over dinner. You won't believe how effective it is and basically simple as pie (preferably pumpkin).
Good Stress Coat to help fish heal from fin or body damage as well as stress from water changes or from moving tanks.
March 2, 2016
The API Stress Coat+ works great. I always keep some on-hand for when I have large water changes or if I have a fish or two have some fin or body damage. It helps the fish heal and strengthens or replaces the slime coat on the fish that protects the fish from the harshness in the water. It also helps the fish with stress especially when you move fish. Fish lose the slime coat or it is lessened when you have them in the net when you take them out of the water. The API Stress Coat+ is usually cheaper than other brands or similar. I can usually find the API Quick Start on Amazon at a good price. API products work well, and they are usually cheaper than other brands. I always buy them on Amazon because of the lower prices. I have Amazon Prime, so the Free 2-day shipping on my orders are a huge plus.
Doesn't affect biological filtration
November 3, 2015
I was given other product recommendations for the removal of chlorine, but they include additives that are supposed to change the chemical properties of ammonia and nitrites to make them "safe" for fish. I always worry that it will also change them too much for the beneficial bacteria to consume it and continue the biological process. So I stick with this. It removes chlorine and chloramines, but doesn't alter the chemical composition of the biological filter components like ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates. The beneficial bacteria can continue to grow and develop with this.
great for all freshwater fish
March 26, 2015
A must have for aquariums we have used this to set up a new aquarium and after 3 days of purchasing our first round of mickey mouse platys fish they are as happy and vibrant as can be

Awkward situation
May 5, 2017
Uh... so my bottle came today which is fine and dandy enough as it is, couldn't have asked for more....buuuuutt....uh... peculiarly...the cap for the bottle is missing....kinda concerned...but I mean as long is it's okay if it's not contained properly, I really like this stuff for my fish...but seriously, the cap though, it's just missing...am I valid for a refund or a new bottle? I mean if not that's okay I suppose I can just fashion something else as a cap.

Made the water a little cloudy but unread that is normal for a new tank. It cleared up on its own I just kept rinsing the filter cartridge daily until it was clear.

So much cheaper than at pet stores
May 5, 2016
This is so much cheaper than the ones at Petsmart. I would high recommend just buying conditioner here. I can't say that I love this product because I can't see it working in my tank, but I guess it did the job since my goldfish is still alive, and I've changed the water twice already. Perfct for a 10 gallon tank, which I use for my goldfish. I don't think I have to buy another bottle of conditioner for a while because I only need, I think, 5mL for every 10 gallons. So glad I found something cheaper than what's at Petsmart.
Happy fish
December 14, 2013
I bought this for my 50 gallon aquarium. I do 10% water changes weekly and this saves me money and helps my fish. I add 2.5ml of stress coat to my 5 gallon bucket. Add tap water. Stir then add it to my tank that has, mollies, mystery snail, cheery shrimp, ghost shrimp, octocinclus, and baby mollies.Pros: 1) 3 year expiration date. Gives me time to use it up. 2) Nice blue color to make it easy to measure out.Con: 1) Not easy to pour into a tiny measuring cup to measure out the small amount.Overall, I think it's worth buying and using for your tank. Hope this helps.

Thinking of changing products - test.
July 3, 2017
I have been using Jungle NL064-16W Start Right Complete Water Conditioner Liquid With Aloe Vera, 16-Ounce, 473-ml . I ordered the API this time for its replacement. I will update my review after I've used it a few weeks with water changes to see if there is a difference.
Warning Puregen users.
June 12, 2017
It is good stuff, but, it fouls up Puregen I use a lot of expensive Puregen, so, I can use this product.

It works
February 17, 2017
It works. You should look up the ingredients prior to adding it, though. If you already have a diatom issue then this will worsen it due to silicates and phosphates. Definitely not as good as Seachem Prime, but still good.
which I feel works better and you don't have to use as much
March 25, 2016
I used to use this all of time when I did water changes in my tank, when I started my tank up. Since then I have switched and used prime, which I feel works better and you don't have to use as much.
Okay..
February 15, 2016
This stuff is okay, but I don't like how it made the top of my water bubbly. You also need a lot of product for one use. I recommend seachem prime it lasts 100 times longer and works very well

Can't tell if it is doing anything at all. There isn't a test for chlorine in the kit. I know it doesn't help ammonia levels which does stress out the fish

I ordered 4 bottles and received one bottle that was opened and the whole liquid was spilled.
I am annoyed.
January 4, 2017
Came with no lid! Weird! The lid on API products also serve as the dosing cup, so this is not helpful. I have dosed my aquarium once with it and my fish are still alive. Then I put plastic with a rubber band around the top. Some day I will finish another API product and use the lid for this. Until then, I am annoyed.
Be careful when measuring
September 17, 2016
When I went to put 5ml in my 10g tank, I only saw the 1ml label inside the cap, so I put ten capfuls in. It turns on on the OUTSIDE of the cap, are labeled 5 and 10ml, which were extremely hard to see, so I ended up putting in 5x as much as I needed, probably screwing up my tank.
Works as water conditioner, questionable as stress relief, not very good at healing
September 11, 2016
I've been using this for about 4 weeks now in a 15 gallon temporary tank for my goldfish. It certainly works as a water conditioner, and it probably works as stress relief (though I can't tell if my goldfish is happy or freaking out...), but I've been dosing the recommended 2x the normal amount as recommended for recovery, and it seems that my goldfish's tail is actually suffering MORE damage, rather than healing...I've also recently checked other negative reviews, and it seems this product is the culprit for the recent algae growth in my tank (green cloudy water). I've mostly fixed the issue by denying the tank any natural lighting, but this was after 2 90% water changes, and I'm certain a denial of lighting is unhealthy for my goldfish...I'm going to be switching to Seachem Prime on my next water change, so I can see whether or not this product truly is the culprit.I will also be exposing my tank to light once again, to see if another algae bloom occurs.I will revise my review when I truly determine this product to be the cause of algae bloom. If it truly is the culprit, I'm never trusting any API Aquarium Treatments purchased from Amazon ever again. No disrespect, Amazon is chill in all other aspects, but it's clear they don't seem care much about the fish-related products.

Do not use, no safety seal
April 18, 2017
I purchased this product a month ago, finally used it when my old bottle of stress coat was finished. Instantly killed two of my Cory catfish. Never had an issue, this product came with pump inserted so there was not a safety seal. I am suspicious with what is inside of this bottle, will not use again.

Algae?
August 8, 2015
Kind of strange. Never had an algae problem in my whole aquarium hobby "career". Used this from this seller and my water was GREEN! VERY VERY GREEN.Changed my water completely 2 times, used this (not thinking it had anything to do with the green) and two days later.... Green water again.Coincidence? My water is perfect now after using store bought stress coat.Hmmmmmm?
