Just like the picture! You won't regret this purchase!
September 8, 2016
We had one of those screen covers that you had to remove completely in order to attend to the fire so I was on a mission to find a nice-looking one with doors that open. Boy, did I strike gold! This fits perfectly into the opening, it is solid and the doors open smoothly and stay open without swinging shut on me AND they stay shut when I close them. We ordered the bronze finish and it looks exactly like the picture. Assembly took about 5 minutes and the way the legs are attached, the screen stands straight and solid. We updated our fireplace this summer so we haven't had a chance to see how this works in action yet, but you can be sure that as soon as the temp hits below 50 we will be stoking up that fire!
I am beyond happy with this fireplace screen!
September 22, 2015
I recently converted my old woodburning fireplace to vent-free gas logs and needed to replace the old screen. This fireplace screen arrived earlier than expected and was well packaged. I was able to quickly and easily put it together. It's very sturdy and fits the 26" x 36" opening perfectly. It looks very attractive as it does in the picture. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
Best fireplace screen! Brown, not copper.
December 26, 2014
I just love this fireplace screen. Beautiful and very sturdy. There are legs on both the front (sides) and back (middle), so it's sturdy from both sides. The doors are great because you don't have to move the screen every time you want to mess with the fire. I love the color, but I would call it brown instead of copper. The doors stay closed, even when a log might jump out at it.

The best part is that the screen has little flecks that sometimes catch the light and appear to sparkle.
Great fire place screen

Great product easy to put together
so we were able to enjoy it on Thanksgiving
December 5, 2014
The item was delivered earlier than expected, so we were able to enjoy it on Thanksgiving. The screen is very nice, was easy to assemble, and my screen functions beautifully. My only caution to future buyers regards the height of the screen. It's tallest height dimension is at the top of the screen. Since my fireplace has a square opening, and is 31" high, and the frame of the screen is not square, the better fit would have been to purchase the bigger screen so that all of the opening is covered. This is not a functional issue, just an aesthetic one! This was a great purchase and looks outstanding in my home.

Nice Quality Fire Grate
July 29, 2017
We only used this one season, but it did the job and does not show any evidence of burning out. I like it much better than the wide-runged grate we had previously.
Smokin' hot!
April 23, 2017
Prefect fit for my fireplace. Well built and sturdy. Holds plenty of wood for a roaring fire!
Very thick and works better than the cheaper ones we had before
March 28, 2017
Very thick and works better than the cheaper ones we had before. Fire can get hot and not melt the welds because it is all one piece. Would recommend to anyone needing a fireplace rack that this would fit in.
I melted my previous fireplace grate...
January 29, 2017
I use my fireplace a lot, and my previous grate had to suffer through a lot. The poor thing eventually melted, and I had to throw it out once it fell apart. The Panacea Cast Iron Fire Grate was my replacement, and my research payed off.

I heat my home with the fireplace I have in my apartment, and because of this I burn black locust most of the time. Black locust burns long and hot, and so I needed a thick and durable grate that would be able to withstand high heat from heavier wood than something like pine. This grate has held up beautifully so far, in spite of the long, hot fires it's been enduring. It hasn't warped like my old grate, and when I toss another log onto the fire it endures the impact like a champ.

If you need a durable grate that's going to last years you should consider this one, you won't be disappointed.
good value
August 15, 2016
I just got mine and I have not had any crack or warp issues like some of the reviews have stated. I am using it in my outdoor fireplace. I seems to be heavy duty and well made. If I have any problems I will update.

This is great and especially fir the price. I love it.
I really like this set
May 3, 2017
I really like this set. It is sturdy and functional. I like the bronze finish. It was well packaged. I swore a few times trying to get the ties to cut but it arrived undamaged.
It looked beautiful in the picture
November 17, 2016
Just received the tool set and was so pleasantly surprised. It looked beautiful in the picture, but it's even better in person. We have a lot of wrought iron in our home (fixtures, railings, chandeliers, etc.) and wanted something somewhat heavy and iron. I actually realized this tool set had a bronzed finish after I purchased it...so I was nervous about how it would look. I thought it was all black. I pulled it out of the box and wow, it's perfect. The bronzing is randomly brushed, so it's not uniform, which I love. It looks custom and appears handmade. I absolutely love the detail of the curled edges on the stand, the ornate top, and even on the handle of each tool. There is one negative, which is minor in my case, but I have seen others comment on. The brush was not protected, so I see how it could get bent. Mine isn't 100% perfect, but it's fine and I'm not going to return it. I'm sure it will straighten out, it's not bad. But I see how others could be more bent...this would be my only recommendation to the seller as an improvement. Perhaps a band of cardboard around the brush bristles would be beneficial. The set comes with the 4 standard fireplace tools - the poker, brush, shovel and tongs. All of which are heavy duty and will do a wonderful job. Again, you have to see this in person to truly appreciate the detail...or zoom in to the handles of the tools. They are so well made but also beautiful. I am a huge fan of iron, so this is exactly what I was looking for. Fireplace tools aren't typically a centerpiece of your decor, but these at least are more than simply utilitarian...they are also attractive. I highly recommend this tool set. You will love them more in person!
Would buy again!! Sturdy and dependable !!
December 19, 2015
Great product ,Very sturdy and actually stands up even when taking 1 of the 4 options off to use , unlike others that tip over because they can not even hold the weight they are supposed to hold !! Bought this set along with the 3 pannell fire place screen for our living room and looks great, added bonus it does not look cheap and think the price is really fair for the quality ! Would buy again !!
Nice Looking and very functional
March 16, 2015
Great tool kit. I've built more than a few fires and used these tools successfully with the fires. They look nice, they are sturdy and seem to be the perfect fit for my fireplace. Great price too. I'm very happy with this purchase.

This set is perfect. We ordered it for ourselves and loved it so much we bought it for my sister and her husband. It's heavy duty while still being decorative. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for new fireplace tools.

Really easy to put together and it is really sturdy

Really easy to put together and it is really sturdy. I like the design, simple but classy. I wanted to use it outside by our fire pit so I sprayed it with a clear outdoor spray paint. Very happy with my purchase.
Great & Sturdy Rack!
February 10, 2017
Easy to assemble. I just piled 3 Cords of wood on it and it's holding up very well! Very nice color and scroll work. Looks exactly like in the picture.
This is a great log rack for the price.
December 9, 2015
It holds about a dozen medium logs stacked a little over the top. There are a couple of keys to successful assembly. Put the 4 bolts into the non-slotted holes first, then place the 4 into the slotted holes. (If necessary you can twist the frame slightly as below to make the holes line up). Then tighten all. Then, if the rack does not sit flat on the floor (i.e. it wobbles), lay it on its side with the opening facing you and look across the long bottom rails to see if they line up (i.e. are parallel). Kneel on the bottom rail on the floor and twist the side frames until they are parallel (pull the top of one panel toward you, while you push the other side down). It takes a little muscle, so get Ahhnold ("I'll be back") next door to help if necessary. Twist until it sits flat and then enjoy! I like this rack so much I just ordered a second one for the other side of the fireplace to hold kindling.
Beautiful firewood holder
November 18, 2015
We really are impressed with this item. It was very easy to assemble upon arrival and looks great in the house whether it is full of wood or empty. We have received numerous compliments already. Great item and a great price, I definitely recommend it!
I hate those dainty little fatwood holders
January 7, 2015
Fatwood fits on this log bin perfectly. I fit a large amount in front of the wood box. I hate those dainty little fatwood holders. You're always filling them up. Fill this bad boy up and forget about it. Looks good filled up and holds a ton of those little sticks. Looks great sitting by the fireplace. Really i think its too small for firewood, unless you're sticking decorative logs in it for just looks. But, that's just my opinion. Maybe, 4 small logs will fit in this little rack if your lucky of ash or maple to look decorative. So I use it to fill my fatwood logs to the brim.
Nicely made!
July 9, 2013
I had no issues assembling this log bin. Eight screws and an Allen wrench were included. Although there was an instruction sheet, assembly was intuitive and all of the holes lined up. The bin holds an evening worth of wood and has a nice bronze appearance.

Good product
December 30, 2016
The sides weren't tall enough to cover our fireplace opening, which was my mistake since they provide the side measurements (there are two...it slopes down at the far edges), so I had to send it back, but good quality and nice looking design. I fully assembled it before realizing my mistake and would have kept it if it had fit.

May 19, 2016
good quality but it's not as big as i thought even with all the measurements matching up there are small gaps around the top edges i don't like that.
Very attractive
October 20, 2015
I would have rated this a 5 star but two slight issues. 1) the magnet won't hold both doors closed, not sure why...2) there was a couple visible scratches on the front door that are visible. Will the door get more scratched considering the use of this? Probably, (maybe this feedback should be left under product packaging). At the end of the day, this seems to be pretty well made... And is very attractive. Even knowing what I know now, I would still buy again...
I would recommend this fireplace screen
December 8, 2014
I would recommend this fireplace screen, it`s very stylish and functional. It fits perfectly and is flush to opening. Doors are made well and heavy, as well as closing properly.

Fits well, seems Sturdy
March 28, 2017
Ordered for my outdoor fireplace. This fits my space perfectly. It appears to be well made. Packaging was pretty good, although the feet had broken through the box bottom, even though there was paper and bubble wrap in the box. Did not harm th product.

Not sure how long this will last, but so far so good
No issues
January 27, 2017
Can't understand why some of the others are having issues with cracked grates, been using this 4-5 times a week since November with zero issues, we run our fireplace hot and keep the house around 70 degs.
Cracked, but works!
November 9, 2013
Just like many other reviewers, the grate snapped with the first hot fire. But it really only snapped in one place so the grate is still fully functional and has worked like a charm ever since. We've used this one full summer season in our outdoor fireplace, and I expect it will last many more - seems like a silly design flaw, but in our case not a deal-breaker since no one can tell it's got a crack and it still functions fine. We've had no problems since the first use, and don't expect any more cracks to occur. Will update if it does.
Decent product
January 28, 2013
The Panacea 15424 grate appears to be as expected: a lighter-grade cast iron import that is reasonably priced. In the three weeks that we have used it, it has fared well, and is a good fit for our hearth. The front of the grate is cantilevered well ahead of the front legs which means that care should be exercised in loading it so as to avoid the potential for tipping forward. There is ample air space under the unit which can be an advantage or demerit depending on the design of a fireplace and the intended use (heat-generating or ornamental fire). My experience has shown that grates with a rear-sloping design and lower clearance produce a hotter, longer-lasting burn whereas grates like this one fire up well but require more firewood to maintain a consistent hot burn. For the money, this is a good grate for our needs. I have limited the rating to 4 stars because its longevity has not been determined yet.

Irks great
January 29, 2017
Very nice fireplace tools. My previous set from a different manufacturer had a problem of breaking where the handle screws into the rod. This set does not have that problem since they are all one pice, no screw in to the rod. Recommend these tools
Poor Packaging, Great Product
January 6, 2016
The product is great. Packaging was horrible. It did not ship in an additional box, just the product packaging. The box was opened and torn upon arrival. Thankfully the product was not damaged and all pieces were accounted for. Tool set looks great and has all the essential tools needed for fires.
Good for the price
February 9, 2015
The fireplace set was delivered in a timely manner and the set is very nice for the price. My only real issue with them is that the stand isn't quite stable. One foot does not touch the ground and it therefore rocks a bit, but not too much. The other issue I have is that the color isn't as black as I had hoped from seeing the picture. It's more gold than I would like, but that's my personal preference.
Good product. The only reason I didn't give it ...
January 8, 2015
Good product. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the color isn't what I imagined... Instead of brushed bronze, it looks more like a copper color that has been painted over with black brush strokes. Not ideal, but still it was a good alternative to buying a black iron set. Our living room has more browns than blacks, so this was a good compromise. We've only used it a few times, but it has worked great. No assembly required - the tips and handles are all one piece so you don't have to worry about screwing them on, and then having them fall off in the fire!
Attractive set
December 9, 2013
I really like this set. Shipping was on time and it arrived in tact. To my big surprise I opened the box to find it was fully assembled. Yay! It's pretty rare to purchase anything these days that you don't have to assemble yourself. With that being said my set is sturdy and the legs are even. The only negative is the color. I did what another reviewer mentioned and spray painted the set black. It turned out perfect. If I could have ordered it in black I would have given it 5 stars. Still happy with the purchase though.
Quality fireplace tool set
February 5, 2013
This sturdy fireplace tool set is well made of all-welded solid wrought iron bar stock and is of very high quality. No flimsy screwed-on base plate to get loose and wobbly. And, no assembly required. The four legs are set wide enough to provide a very stable platform, and the hooks are deep enough to hold the four wrought iron tools securely. The dark bronze finish has a pleasing patina with subtle accents of lighter antique bronze color. The scroll work is uniformly well done, and closely matches the scrolls on our fireplace screen, even though the screen is made by another manufacturer. The only negative is that I would rather have tongs with a top hinge, but that is just my preference and does not mean that the tongs are not of good quality. In reality, strong well made top-hinged tongs are very hard to find, and most tool sets have the kind of tongs supplied with this set. So, it's not really a big deal.All-in-all, a very handsome and well-made fireplace tool set at a great price.

Great quality and very nice lookinng
January 1, 2016
This is a great log holder. We were in an apartment when we used this product. We primarily were looking for something that looked nice, and would hold all our duralogs rather than keeping them in the box. This product really does the job. It is great quality, and looks really nice.Keep in mind that it isn't large, so will hold enough logs for convenience.I recommend this log holder if you are looking for a nice looking, good quality product that will hold several logs for convenience.
Quirky assembly issues continue, but I'm very pleased with final result
February 18, 2015
So, it's true, this item has some quirky assembly issues. Mine arrived with no nuts for the bolts. All the bolts and holes lined up just fine (it looks like they've elongated the top set of holes to accommodate manufacturing slippage). The rack is "square" once put together, and it looks just as I expected it would. Very nice. It is small, but that's what I bought it for -- to hold smaller pieces of wood for my chiminea. Anyway, because of the missing bolts, Amazon gave me the choice of replacing the item or giving me a 20% refund. I opted for the $8.55 refund, drove to the local hardware store and bought 8 bolts (and washers) for less than $2. It's now put together and I'm pleased with the final result.
We like it...we like it alawwwwt.
February 8, 2015
When I first took it out of the box we said uh oh...it's too small like the reviews said. Then I put it together, it literally to 5 minutes if that, and we said hmmm maybe not too small. Long story short we think it's great. It could stand to be a few inches taller but as you'll see in the pictures it holds 12 normal size logs pretty easily and I'll probably pile on 2 more next trip to the log rack.. We bought a half cord at the beginning of winter and these are 12 random logs from that cord. We also took a few pictures because we find that helps us a lot. We put a fairly large patio chair from Target behind it for a few shots to help with the size.
Attractive and Does The Trick
December 31, 2013
We purchased this wood holder for our breezeway. We have a fireplace we use mostly for atmosphere in our living room and needed a place to store some wood to keep it dry until we needed it. Running outside to the wood pile all winter was not an option nor was piling wood in the corner of the room. This item was priced right and VERY easy to assemble. It fits the planned space perfectly. One note. Please look at the dimensions of the product before ordering. This is a SMALL wood bin. We burn pieces of wood no more then 2-3" round, NOT "logs". If you were to stack logs in this unit you may get 6-8 into it before it's full. That's all it will hold of full size logs. However, that is not what we use it for so it was great for us.
Nice looking log holder
December 30, 2013
Product arrived as advertised. Assembly was easy, took me about 15 minutes. Assembly involves installing 8 Allen screws to attach the sides to the base.. All of the holes lined up perfectly. Some reviewers had issues with screw alignment. You need to leave all of the screws a bit loose until you have them all started on each side, then snug them up. I can't wonder if some people who had problems were tightening each screw as they installed it, leaving no "wiggle room" to get the other screws started. The brushed Bronze finish looks nice, but I'm temped to spray paint it flat black to match my wood stove, I'll wait awhile before I change anything. This log bin is sturdy, sits flat with no wobble, and holds approximately 12 split logs. I think the picture makes it look wider that it actually is. It is 18" wide by 16" tall. It is made in China.

This screen is nice but it is brown
September 15, 2017
This screen is nice but it is brown. Flat brown. I also recieve 1 black leg one brown. Notice in the picture the ask bucket is copper. I bought it because it comes up together on amazon as frequently bought together. The screen and bucket look the same on amazon but they clearly are not.
I love the screen - it's beautiful
August 3, 2017
I love the screen - it's beautiful! For the most part it works well. However, the hardware provided to assemble is so cheap and ineffective. The screws stripped easily and it took hours to put it together when it could have taken 15 mins if the hardware wa batter quality. If you buy this - get hardware to assemble it more efficiently!
nice addition but not perfect
January 29, 2017
Very nice looking design. Ordered Copper which turns out to be more of a muted dark bronze and not like the picture. Also, the doors do not stay shut. I read in the Q&A that magnets should be in top corner (built in) to keep doors closed. This needs to be resolved.

Other than those disappointments - the unit is very nice and fits perfectly against our brick fireplace.

Also, there were numerous product questions relating to size. The dimensions quoted are all over the place probably due to the scroll design. I strongly recommend to clarify dimensions right up front in the product description (b/c they are wrong) to avoid reading through all the Q&A. Secondly, I think additional product photo's would help - especially a side view so you can see the smaller balance legs in the back which are not mentioned.
This is a very sturdy, good quality and attractive set
October 28, 2016
This is a very sturdy, good quality and attractive set, but it isn't copper color at all. It's dark brown steel color. If it truly is made of copper, you'd never know it by looking at it..
dont believe the reviews

Received my fireplace screen today. First thing I saw was [ MADE IN CHINA] stickers. The next thing I noticed was a scratch on the front. Putting it together one of the Chinese bolts was stripped. After I got it together and put it in front of fireplace the doors rub when closing. From a distance it looks OK at best. When you get close it looks MADE IN CHINA. Not what I expected ! Anyone who gave this 5 stars must have gotten a huge discount. I was very generous to give this 3 stars

Worked pretty well for a couple of weeks but then started to warp. By 6 weeks part of the bottom was falling out. Disappointing. Good design though.
A fine product, good thing it's not displayed, though
March 13, 2014
It's a grate, it's iron, it keeps wood off the bricks. What more do you want?
It's sand cast and not finished, so it's not pretty, and not fun to handle, but it gets tucked away in your fireplace, and if you are handing it often, you're doing it wrong. Could be a little heavier, but it is solid iron.
I'm keeping mine.
GRATE JUST SO-SO
February 17, 2014
This grate looks good and works well but doesn't last. We use our fireplace mainly for atmosphere just on weekends during the 3-month winter season here in PA. We have used our grate about 75 times since purchasing it in October 2012. The middle bottom of the grate is now sagging and two of the short cross pieces are broken completely. I'm no authority on fireplace equipment, but it seems to me that a fireplace grate should last more than two seasons with such limited use. I won't buy another one of these.

they look a lot better now. Too much effort and cost to ship ...
January 14, 2016
These tools are well made, but the finish described as "brushed bronze" is really a tacky gold with some splotchy black paint, it looks really fake. I bought some high heat, flat black paint at the big box store and painted the tools, they look a lot better now. Too much effort and cost to ship them back.
nice finish, good tools
September 6, 2015
Pros: Heavy duty, nice finish, good tools, extra hooks so we could also hang our bellows Cons: legs uneven and metal is too hard to bend to even them out. I may have to glue something to the shortest leg if the rocking bothers us too much.

Appeared to have been repackaged.
March 5, 2017
Easy to assemble and it works well for small amounts of wood.It was clean this item had been repackaged. The plastic ties that held everything in place had already been cut and some pieces were already out of the plastic covers.
Wretched finish can be easily remedied.
October 22, 2014
I was very disappointed with the finish on the panacea 15919. The base is black, and then a yucky gold paint is swiped over it with a large brush - tacky and not as pictured. However, I assembled the log rack and sprayed it with one coat of Rustoleum all-in-one in Oil Rubbed Bronze (about $7 from Home Depot) and it looks great now. No drips, no smears - the Rustoleum stuff is great.
It Will Look OK in the Living Room
March 18, 2013
I guess the only way to describe the appearance of this item is "crude." The finish looks like it was painted gold, then "antiqued" with brown paint. I'll probably take it outside and spray some dark bronze paint on it when the weather gets nicer. The construction is also crude; the welds are not only visible, they're obvious. Of course, I have a critical eye, and my guests probably won't be inspecting my log rack closely.I did not have the problem with alignment of parts and holes that others reported. I did have a bit of trouble getting the screws started in the threaded holes without cross-threading them. The screws have allen heads; there's an allen wrench included, but the position of the screws means you get less than 3/4 turn with each swing of the wrench. That made assembly a fiddly operation. The rack is both big enough and strong enough to hold an evening's firewood. The legs have plastic feet of just the right hardness to be used on hardwood floors.I've had some critical things to say, but this cost $40 or so, and I looked log racks costing $300-400, so I think I got my money's worth! (However, the price went down a buck and a half the day mine came. Gripe, grumble...)
You better be pretty handy to assemble this
January 19, 2013
This Chinese product, like many, WAS NOT made to good tolerances, so the holes don't line up correctly. After attaching the threaded bolts to one side of either end's railing, the other side screws (bolts) holes DO NOT line up with the threaded inserts that are welded into the metal. I had to devise an appropraite length sliding stretcher to wedege in place so as to get the holes to line up to screw the bolts in. Then I had to get one of my own allen keys when their cheap one started slipping. Then on the other end, I had to file one of the holes a bit so the bolt would even go through the hole. In other words, like many Chinese products, the quality control SUCKS! After assembly, I like the unit and it seems like it is strong and should last decently, if none of the Chinese spot welds break from the additional pressure they are under from being stretched so as to line up the holes. I could have also taken one of my drills with a much larger drill bit and possibly made the holes on one side of each end rail larger (quite a bit larger) so that the bolts could be made to line up, but that would have meant a whole lot of metal drill dust that I did not feel like cleaing up afterwards. The 3 stars are for the final product. The rating for quality control and therefore ease of assebly would have been ZERO
Sturdy, but kind of cheap-looking

The assembled product is nice and sturdy, but wow - was it a pain to assemble! There are just eight bolts to screw in, but the frame & tray are a bit warped so it was an awkward two-person job to hold the thing with holes aligned and get the bolt threaded in straight. Making it worse, the allen wrench that comes with it doesn't really fit well up in the little corner where the bolts are.Once it's assembled, it looks OK, but the finish is rather cheap-looking and the joints look very roughly spot-welded. When it's filled with wood and you see it across the room, it looks nice. Close-up - not so much. It's still a decent value and does the job.
Good for the price
April 11, 2011
This is a good product for the price. It is considerably cheaper than other comparable products. This one doesn't come with the fireplace tools, which I already had, so that might contribute to it being cheaper. Assembly was quick but the parts did not align well. I even had to leave one screw out because I could not force an alignment of the holes. It didn't matter, still works well and will be sturdy enough to hold as much wood as you could stack on it, without the wood falling off.

Product ok. Company customer service sucks
Great as decorative item, not so great as functional fireplace tools Very lightweight
December 11, 2016
They match my firescreen and are easy to hang the tools than many fireplace sets. I've been using them for a week and the broom already looks highly frayed. This is a very lightweight fireplace tool set. I expect them to last the winter, I hope, then they will need to be replaced with something more functional but matches my firescreen as well. Don't waste your money because you'll need another set in a year or less. Next time I'll pay more money but get tools that have heft and will give years of service.

Looks very nice but mediocre design and sloppy construction
November 25, 2014
Just received it. Took out of package and was getting ready to install it. Looks very nice but one door rubs against the frame and the other door swings open easily. No magnets or latching mechanism so doors are subject to gravity. I may forgo the stand and mount it directly onto the brick surround. Hopefully I can find a magnet at hardware store. There is a stop for the doors so they don't swing in. Good spot for a magnet.

Some follow up info: bolts are used to attach the front legs to the frame, but the pre-drilled holes are too big, which results in a lot of play...and potentially crooked front legs. only one dinky wrench is provide, but no locking washings...so I recommend using two real wrenches to attach the legs. once the legs are attached, they can easily flex at the bottom, away from the frame because the bolts are both located at the top of the legs. in other words, good luck getting this thing to stand level, even if it's on a level surface. another reason I'm going to skip the legs and attach the frame to the brick surround.

GRATE WARPED AFTER 10 USES, CHEAPPPPPP
Poor construction
December 18, 2016
Seems to be well made as far s design but they made the legs different lengths so it rocks and tilts.

I bought this to replace the old and tired one I had for 5 years. The first time I used this one it cracked in half. I would look at other options.
Bottom warped downward
February 20, 2016
Within two fires the bottom of the grate had bent downward. Yes, I had a bed of red-hot coals.
Grate downfall
January 21, 2014
The packaging was not the greatest. The grate came in a box a lot larger than it needed to. Nothing to secure it inside the box. And the box was damaged I'm sure from the grate being thrown around during delivery.
The grate itself was smaller than expected. We have a fire almost every night and the grate already has weakened. One wouldn't expect that in the first month of its use.
Overall. A little disappointed.

My stand is very sturdy and the look is nice
February 22, 2015
My stand is very sturdy and the look is nice. I am not really happy with the color. It has a lot more bronze then I would like. The photo makes it look darker. I also own the Panacea brand log bin in the same brushed bronze and they don't really match. My log bin has a lot less bronze and is darker (which I like) I saw a cheaper one I liked at lowes. should of just bought that one.
Poorly constructed
January 24, 2010
Would not recomend this product. While it looks nice, the four scroll legs on the stand are all different lengths. As a result the stand is always leaning so much that it looks like someone bent it.

... log bin out of the package and it looks easy to put together
December 19, 2016
Pull out the log bin out of the package and it looks easy to put together. I screwing one side in and go do the other side and there are no wholes. I measure and make my own holes on one side. This was very inconvenient!!! I have a drill, but I had to go buy a different bit to drill the proper size of the hole. I normally have good experiences with buying things online and have not really had any problems. I also ABSOLUTELY hate dealing with the hassle of sending things back so I try to make it work. This was ridiculous buying something that is expected to have predrilled holes and it did not.

I was disappointed to find that this log bin had to be ...
December 1, 2015
I was disappointed to find that this log bin had to be assembled with bolts which makes me wonder about how well it will hold up with constant dumping of wood into it. I expected it to be already set to go with perhaps the parts welded together as it looks like iron in the picture shown. I also find the color of this log bin to be different than the one depicted. My rack is not almost black as portrayed, but is rather a dark grey tone with almost slipshod goldish color streaking all over especially on the curved base plate. I am considering returning this item but don't know if a different one would be any better. Perhaps they all have this terrible streaking. I would not buy another one, that is for certain. As for the strength and integrity of this log bin.....that is to be determined.
Horrible assembly of only four screws!
January 5, 2014
This appears to be a lovely option for a log bin; however, it required huge effort due to poor quality of parts. could not assemble properly.
Nice looking but...
November 24, 2012
Screw alignment seems to be the prevailing complaint in these reviews. Three corners align properly leaving the alignment for the screws on the fourth corner off by almost a full inch, they had welded the mounting plate on upside down. (The slotted hole should be at the upper part of the mounting, one of mine was at the bottom). Had to drill and shape new holes before it could be assembled. If the unit had not otherwise been as nice as it is we would have returned it.
Looks great but thats about it
June 28, 2012
This item looked great and had some great reviews. I received it and it does look nice. However, rather smaller than I expected. I doubt it will hold much of good size logs. Maybe two would have done the job.The assembly on this item is beyond annoying. It was hard to line the things up and the little tool made it a tedious job to get the screws in. I am not sure why they didn't use a regular phillips screw driver top. I would rather pay more money to get one that is already assembled than deal with this one again.I assembled a large medicine cabinet quicker than these little screws to put the ends on it.Not bad item for price but I'd shop around next time.

Plow and Hearth - Zero customer service!
September 20, 2017
Not that I hate the product, just the "so called" service by Plow and Hearth. Product was as described and perfect, with the exception of a broken magnet to hold the doors. I called and emailed Plow and Hearth, and got response both ways. Just no help! I guess they are not worried that a twenty five cent magnet is going to sour my taste for anything from them. They said that I had to take it up with Amazon, since they sold it. Well, all I can do with Amazon is disassemble, repackage a perfectly good screen, and reship for a return. I am not doing that for a magnet. Thus, I have to take care of what Plow and Hearth calls mine and Amazon's problem. See, I had no order directly with Plow and Hearth, so it is not their responsibility. Too bad that customer satisfaction has gone out the window, and reputation with it, for a simple mail of a magnet to a consumer. C'est la vie, Plow and Hearth. Don't buy from them; they apparently don't care if you do or not!

This item is very flimsy and cheap. I could not use it as it will not even stand up straight. I would like to return it for a refund.
Crooked and unusable
November 30, 2016
One of the legs did not touch the ground so it wouldn't stand up. The screw in receptacle for the knob on top was bend so the knob was crooked. Other than those two defects, it was very sturdy and heavy duty. It was a big disappointment not to be able to use it at Thanksgiving. Had to keep using an old golf club to stoke the fire!
The screen was too small.

Looks very nice. But you have to make sure it's not up against the flue valve. We have to keep it a little further out past the flue because the it covers the valve. Also the legs feel as though they will fall off. Not to sturdy. It seems like it may fall forward. For the money you would think it would be very sturdy but it's not.

Just disappointed
January 24, 2017
I thought that I would try and replace my eight year old plus fireplace grate. That was just a month ago. I was thrilled with the quick shipping and primes good price. Sadly I have to say that I am quite disappointed. I don't typically write reviews either way, however I was surprised at the bowing of the metal so quickly. I can only imagine that it will not be long before wood will be falling through rather than resting on top. I was excited because it seemed to be quite sturdy and is cast-iron. I will not order one again, that's for sure.

Junk
January 13, 2015
I bought this grate to replace the one I had only because of the size. This one fit my fire place much better. When I received it I noticed immediately that the quality of this one did not come close to the other one. The grates were much thinner. After approximately three days of burning, when I was cleaning the ashes, I noticed two of the grates had broken off. The next couple of days with a fire the entire grate collapsed. I threw it away and went back with my old smaller one.
Couldn't Take the Heat
December 16, 2013
This grate ended as a disappointment for us. I'll preface the remarks by stating that we have a larger hearth than most and keep a hot fire approximately 4 to 5 hrs. a winter's night. That said, we began keeping a fire towards the end of October and have been burning the majority of nights for the past month and a half. During that time, we've noticed that a couple of the perpendicular bars have dropped off and that the center of the grate has "fatigued" down to about 1/4 inch off the ground. We usually get a full season out of our grates and that was our expectation with this one. The fact that we need to replace it in less than two months speaks to our disappointment.

Cancer warning on the label!

For starters, the finish on this set is not bronze. It has this yellowish finish on it, not sure how to describe it. But the major disappointment was the product tag that said made with a chemical known to cause cancer. Returned immediately!

The feet of the stand are unstable - only 3 of the 4 feet are balanced on the ground. I am disappointed, as this is a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. I'm hoping they'll replace the stand ASAP.
CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS
November 18, 2013
I received a severely beat up box with a broken stand and two missing tools. I contacted customer service on 11/5 and I am STILL waiting for a return shipping label and refund. I looked and this item is only available for return until 11/27 so it seems they are dragging feet for a reason. Completely unacceptable. The set itself is very pretty ans would go wonderful with my decor but I would NOT purchase from this particular store.
